Here’s the thing about me. Once I get started with something, I need to know how it ends. Particularly with books and shows. I hate waiting to find out what happens.
This usually causes me to hole up in my room away from the world and internets until I finish whatever it is. Especially now that I’m looking for work, I spend a lot of time home sending resumes and emails. But basically, I have a lot of free time so get sucked into a new series or show.
You all may remember my reluctance to start reading Twilight then I read them all in three days. Because I just needed to know OMG did they finally just do it already?! Then I proceeded to push those books on many of you and got you all hooked.
Then there was Desperate Housewives. I know, kind of random, right? But you see, when you are unemployed such as myself and there is a show you have never seen that is on every day for two hours, it’s hard not to get sucked in. Plus, it’s on Lifetime and we all know my weakness when it comes to that goddamn channel. But yeah, so there was an episode last week that ends all, “5 years later…” and then the next day instead of picking up there, the whole series STARTS ALL OVER. And I’m like dude, where is Mike? And why does Gaby have two kids? And totally not surprised the twins are practically little felons.
I JUST NEED ANSWERS.
And don’t even get me started on the Sookie Stackhouse books*. Just don’t. These are the books that True Blood is based off of. Yeah, I flew through all of 8 or 9 of those in like a week and a half. Now I’m done with all the books that are out and I’m all WTF?! NEED MORE ERIC! and everyone is like “oh, the next book is out in October, it’s cool”.
OCTOBER? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? THAT IS LIKE 3 MILLION YEARS AWAY AND DEFINITELY NOT COOL. WANT ERIC NOW.
After I read the books I decided I needed to see the show. I’ve caught a few episodes randomly but I needed to see everything from the beginning. Then I downloaded season one and finished in like a day and a half. Right now, I’m downloading episodes 3 and 4 of season two and I’m practically staring at Azureus watching the seconds pass because it is JUST NOT MOVING FAST ENOUGH.
So yeah, I might have a touch of an addictive personality. But I just can’t help it, I love a story and knowing what happens.
I’m now looking for what I will start once I finish True Blood. I think it will be How I Met Your Mother.
* Read them. Do it. Charlaine Harris. Trust me, you’ll love me and hate me for recommending them but just do it.
and it led to her demise…
Sounds like a Lifetime movie title and opening, doesn’t it?
(Maybe. Sorta. Kinda. No? Okay, fine.)
Well, that’s my problem. I CAN’T get enough.
Of Lifetime movies, that is.
No, seriously. On the chance that I am home, whether I have a some time to actually watch tv or am working on something else, chances are Lifetime is on in the background with some poorly acted movie with Tori Spelling or about being unknowingly drugged to steal the wife and best friend’s inheritance.
It’s like crack. I just can’t turn away.
The fourteen year olds in high school who spread syphilis to all their classmates because they were screwing 10-15 dudes and the little virgin one is told she looks like Angelina Jolie so duh, she joins in the fun and gets it too.
Then LeAnn Rimes who finds her dad whose been dead for 10 years in a cave in a Alaska and falls in love with the new sheriff who, of course, solves the case.
(Which is also the movie where she meets the dude she has an affair with and cheats on her supposedly gay husband. No, that part is real life but it could totally be made into a movie. Maybe Tori Spelling can play LeAnn Rimes?)
And there is Lacey Chabert who is adopted but her real mom comes back and she gets a cat bank and finds out that OMG! it’s the police officer who is suppose to help her that is the killer and NO WAY! he is framing her dad.
(Lacey Chabert has the most annoying voice. For serious.)
I have yet to stumble across a teen pregnancy or eating disorder movie but with the way things are going it’s only a matter of time.
Maybe I should start thinking about a future career as a Lifetime movie writer? I think I have enough cheese and drama in me to crank out some really great ones.
Let’s just consider this little confession “my research” and never talk about it again.
(well until you see my name in credits as the writer for ‘She Was Too Young part 37′)
Seriously, people. CRACK.
* I’m so looking forward to the search hits I get with this one. STDs and Angelina Jolie in one post, that’s practically blasphemy.
** Lifetime, call me!
Yes, this post is all about Britney Spears. Get off my shit, bitch is fierce.
As some of you know, today her new record, Circus dropped. I think it’s good and there are a couple of really great songs (in my opinion) like Circus and Phonography but as a whole, I think Blackout was better. Blackout had hit after hit.

On another note, while watching the documentary, Britney: For the Record, I think you can really see how sad she is. It’s like she loves doing what she does but she just doesn’t have the spark anymore. Maybe it’s poor choreography but she isn’t really hitting the dancing like she use to. Or maybe it’s just taking her awhile to get back into the swing of performing. The preview for the Circus video looks insane though. I can’t wait to see it.
(Britney’s performance this morning on Good Morning America)
Whatever it is, I love her and want to go see her when she comes to Chicago in April. I wish I would have know that tickets would go on pre-sale today so I could have budgeted it in but I don’t think I can afford to drop like $250 for a pair of tickets
A few notes today, lovelies.
First off, I started a review blog because I couldn’t figure out how to get my review pages to allow comments on here. Whatever. What is it called you ask?
I know, I know. I’m so creative!
Anyway, I have a review up right now for The Slanket. Remember how I wrote about wanting one a couple weeks ago (here)? You guys should go comment on it and stumble it so I can convince the people at Slanket to give me one to give away to you guys. Seriously, you know you want to look as cozy as me because this thing is really awesome!

Secondly, at the Oh How Lovely Shops blog, I’ve been posting a holiday gift guide. So far there is holiday cards, stockings, a doggie guide, men’s guide and then on Friday the baby guide will be posted. Next week I will be posting more. Also if nothing in the guide hits the spot, check the archives. There are tons of great items.
Still no luck? If there is anyone on your gift list that is hard to find a gift for and you can use some help, drop me a line and I’ll see what I can come up with!
Also on the Shops blog is this week’s etsy giveaway from Shop Red Leaf and I have three tubs of bubble bath dough for three lucky people! Go check that out and leave a comment to enter.

I’m feeling pretty crappy with a sore throat and head cold so that’s all for now.
Happy Tuesday!
Vote for my shopping blog for the Divine Caroline: Love This Site Award! I’m up for the style category and in second place. I believe voting ends tonight so help me win $250!
Don’t let a forum win. We all know blogs are far superior!
Remember I’m donating about half of it to a worthy cause if I win!
Vote! Vote! Vote!
As I said earlier this week, my blog turns one year old today!
Because it’s my blog birthday, you lurkers should come out of hiding! Come say hi, introduce yourself, tell me your favorite color, whatever your little heart desires. We don’t bite!

In celebration, I’m giving away a ton of really awesome, retro inspired prints on my other blog from etsy seller, Kerry Beary. Seriously, there are like $200 worth of prints and there will be 7 winners! You should go enter!
Lastly, I need your votes. I mentioned this before but Brandy nominated Oh How Lovely Shops for a style award and I’d LOVE to win. If I do win, I’d be donating about half of the $250 to charity so please vote, it will take all of a minute.
I only have 27 votes and the person in the lead has 73. I know I have more readers than that. If you are entering my giveaway and vote me, leave me a comment in the giveaway entry with what number vote you were and you’ll get an extra entry!
And don’t say it’s the signing up thing because you guys all signed up to vote for the Blogger’s Choice Awards in hopes for Crissy n00dz!
I was nominated for the Style award for Oh How Lovely Shops by my lovely friend, Brandy (vote for her too!).
Please take the time to vote for this site. I can win $250 and that means I’ll be able to support handmade even more. I can guarantee you part of that will end up back at Etsy. I will also donate part of the money to the Nie recovery fund and a local animal shelter.
I’ve been following NieNie’s story and would love to be able to contribute to this wonderful family in their time of need. Please take the time to visit their site to learn about their story and ways to help.
Everyone knows of my love for animals (especially dogs) so I think this is a great opportunity to give to them as well. Many of the animals at this shelter have been affected by the recent flooding in the North West Indiana area.
Really, it’s a win for everyone.
So please vote for Oh How Lovely Shops.
It takes 2 seconds to register and vote! If everyone who visits this blog votes, surely I’d have a great chance!
Add me on Facebook. One day I will figure out how to use it. Drop me a note when you add me so I know who you are. Blog pseudonyms, new people, lurkers – it can get confusing!
Join my blog networks on Facebook.
If for some ridiculous reason you are not on twitter and wasting your life away one tweet at a time like me, what are you waiting for? Get on that.
Oh wait, one more. Vote for me in the Blogger’s Choice Awards. Then vote for everyone I voted for because obviously they are effin’ awesome.
Leave your links in the comments and we will be BFF everywhere on the internetz.
I promise I will be back to regularly scheduled posting once this entry is done. I’ve been shoving new blogs at you left and right, asking you all to go take a look so you probably hate my by now.
But seriously, adorable shopping blogs with free stuff?! Blogs about making zombies and human hearts made of Starbursts?! How can you resist that kind of awesomeness?
You can’t.
(Hopefully you don’t remove me from your reader with all this shameless self (and sisterly) promotion.)
Anyway, next order of business: a 20 Something Blogger Meet Up. It will be open to others outside of the 20SB community but it’s just getting planned on the 20SB forums so don’t feel left out okay?
Jenn and I are trying to do this. So head on over to her blog and vote for the lucky city that will hold the first 20SB meet up!
Lastly, please go say congrats to Chris and Ari over at Surviving Myself who just got engaged!
You know how I post tons of adorable things I find? Well I finally made a seperate blog for all that stuff!
New items will be posted daily! More than likely, my contests and features will move over there eventually so go add it to your feed reader!
And if for some silly reason you don’t have this blog added to your feed reader, you should probably do that now too!
