I know nothing about wine. I couldn’t tell you about the floral or fruity hints to it. Smelling or swishing it around in my mouth won’t do anything for me. Years mean nothing to me.
I just like drinking it.
So what better way to choose your wine than picking out whichever is prettiest?
I told twitter about an adorable bottle of wine I bought about a month ago and then decided all the wine I would get from now on would be based on labels. Twitter wholeheartedly agreed with me and I was all, “OMG Let’s have a pretty wine label party!” then the awesome Working Girl Two was like “I’ll host it at my place!” which was fabulous because I live on the south side and people are afraid of the south side (and I don’t mean south loop. That is not the fucking south side.) and it’s is hard to get to.
ANYWAY.
Yesterday was our party. And it was amazing!

This is only a small portion of all the wine we had.
I really wish we would have got a photo of all of the bottles lined up. We had some really great ones. But at the time, drinking totally trumped photo taking. Understandable, right?
We basically had the best group of people come and had like 423 bottles of wine and snacks. Porch hangouts led to wine shots in the kitchen with Jess and Erin. Things were getting a little crazy and Lacey was like just stay with me and Nicole tonight instead of driving home and then the party REALLY got started. We killed off all of the white wine while having the most epic dance party in the history of the world.
No, really. Madonna. Nsync. The motherfucking LION KING.
And it only got better from there because POP! There went the red wine and the iPod started burning up because we were playing dj and dancing like crazy.
It was seriously one of the best nights I have ever had in my life. Everyone got along famously and had an amazing time. I really need more time with friends like this.
Thanks so much, ladies, for coming and hanging out.
I’m SO ready for Pretty Wine Party 2.0!
BlogHer ‘09 is coming up super fast. I know some of you Chicago ladies will be hitting it up for the first time this year. Or you might have missed out on getting tickets but that’s okay.
I’m helping put together a Chicago-Area BlogHer Group. It’s to help all of us connect pre-event. I know I was super intimated last year when I was headed to the conference so we are using these groups in various cities to hopefully help ease people in. This way you walk in knowing some people there and don’t feel that initial awkwardness like I did last year.
We’re attempting to put together a meet-up for June 13th. All BlogHers are welcome, whether you have a ticket or not. Come hang out and meet some amazing women.
Join our group here and throw in your two cents on date and location. Don’t forget to introduce yourself. And spread the word!
You definitely don’t want to miss out on this awesome meet-up.
Not in Chicago? Check out the Groups page to see if a BlogHer Group is launching in your city!
(P.S. I’ve moved hosts and domains with the help of Nico. Change the link in your blog roll? Feed should be the same so no need to resubscribe. But if you haven’t yet added me to your reader, do so here.)
Saturday night I went to go hang out with Maggie, Emily and Brittany and we played with fondant. Check out our awesome cake. Red velvet and yellow cake layered with butter cream frosting and topped with purple fondant.

and I decorated one lone cupcake

Yes, we will be accepting orders for weddings and birthdays soon.
Sometimes you just need a day with your best friend. I’m in need of one of those.
If you tell me how you would ideally spend a night with the girls, you might win one of these awesome M&M Premium prize packs!

Many of you were around to witness how out of control Jenn and I on Twitter Saturday night. We were furiously TwitterBerrying and breaking out in fits of giggles…and the drinks didn’t even start coming yet. Oh, but when they did, it was magical. Peach raspberry something with alcohol something or what I call Heaven In a Glass and then a Berry Berry Good which was duh, berry berry good with some Jerk Chicken Pasta. Oh man, pretty sure I will live in Bahama Breeze, not to mention I could wear sweet Hawaiian (Bahamaian?) print shirts and bathe in fruity deliciousness. Of course, with their handy mouth wash dispensers, I would be set for life.
I managed to talk Jenn into buying an adorable bag BUT it had a matching wallet and I totally justified her purchase for her. Do not go shopping with me. I’m the worst person to go shopping with and will make you leave with anything you so happen to glance at. I can justify purchases no matter what. Is there a career for that? Because I would be AWESOME at it. Jamie the Justifier. Has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?
We breezed through Woodfield and getting a seriously work out while doing so, (seriously, ramps and inclines everywhere!), poking shower gel jelly molds in Lush, whispering sweet nothings at gorgeous dresses in Anthropologie and looking longingly at Nordstrom’s in the process. We rounded out the night with The Holy Land aka Borders. Could you really ask for a better day? Well, yes, we wouldn’t have hit traffic on the way home at 11PM but whatever, still fabulous.
Point of this post?
Jenn and I are awesome.
Ridiculously. Awesome
P.S. Renee, come hang out with us!
