of disney, new friends and balloon hats

I got back from Florida late Sunday night. It was a very much needed break filled with sunshine, magic and rollercoasters.

Even at 25 21 years old, I can’t explain the feeling that initial walk down Main Street and first setting eyes on Cinderella’s castle gives me. (sorry for the dark iPhone photo, it had just finished raining as well)

It also never fails to make me feel like I was jipped out of my childhood. I never got run around Disney World dressed up as a princess like all the little girls I seen this past weekend. Damn it, I want a princess dress and I want it now!

(Halloween 2009: I’m stuffing my ass into a pink Sleeping Beauty dress. Princess party, bitches!)

The following day was Universal Studios. We crammed both parks in one day which was either incredible stupid or incredibly smart. Let’s just go with smart though, okay? I geeked out a bunch over the signs that boasted of Harry Potter’s theme park being built. You couldn’t see anything because everything was blocked off but I sure as hell tried while we flying around upside down on Dueling Dragons. Rollercoaster are high up so I figured I could sneak a glimpse. Too bad I forgot to factor in the upside down loops, going a million miles an hour and screaming my face off thing.

(I will be there when it finally opens in 2010 nerding out hardcore.)

That night we met up with Lauren and Alexis, as well as a couple of Jenn’s friends, for dinner at some Latin place on CityWalk. The food was kind of bland but there was great company and Alexis and I narrated the cheesy Spanish music videos that were distracting us while we were suppose to be mingling, then the fajitas set off the fire sirens and we left only to stumble across this:

Yes, that is a group of eight people with a balloon hat. And yes, you read that right HAT. An eight person balloon hat and all eight of those people were getting down to the live band that was playing.

Together. In their balloon hat. Connected. Eight people.

What is wrong with life?

But I will say seeing that kind of made up for the fact that our visit with them was so short.

(I wish you could submit photos to Fmylife.com, except in this case it would be this picture with FYL (fYOURlife) because you look like a goddamn fool.)

P.S. Going from 90 degree weather to 30 degree slushy snow in the same day really is depressing. Things like that should be illegal.

P.P.S. A million thanks to my guest bloggers: Tia, Alexa and Jess. You all are the bestest ever!

there are no teacups in space

Well, I ended up cancelling my birthday plans because I wasn’t feeling good. That sucked a lot. I’m hoping to reschedule soon and get all my girls out!

The following day, William took me out to dinner for my birthday. I chose Hot Chocolate. Let me start off by saying, I’m not much of a foodie. I don’t have a refined palate. I’m a simple girl, I don’t need fancy stuff. But OMG, can we pretend I do more often? Seriously, I don’t think I have ever moaned and groaned while eating before. It was delicious. I’m planning on going back soon to try their mac and cheese and another dessert I missed out on.

Anyone in Chicago up for a Hot Chocolate date when I get back?

Get back from where you ask?

On Thursday, I leave for Florida for a few days. I’m really excited about getting out of Chicago for a little while and into some warm weather. And obviously, Mickey Mouse and roller coasters. Duh. Jenn hasn’t been there since she was little so it’s time to show her the way of the Mouse. We don’t do that space center bullshit (ahem).

Also, I’ll be (hopefully) meeting up with a few of you Orlando people. If you haven’t heard from me and would like to grab dinner or drinks, email me!

There will be a few guest posters while I’m away too so play nice.

Time to pack.

(And by pack I obviously mean: time to put in Twilight and laugh at the ridiculousness of it. It’s just so bad it’s good.)

Florida recap (Disney World edition)

I’ve finally got the time to get the second part of my vacation recap together! Don’t forget to check out the etsy giveaway below this.

Disney World is my favorite place ever. I’ve said many times how much I love it. I went for the first time 3 years ago and this year will be my 3rd time there with boyfriend and his family. It’s so much fun and there really is no place in the world like it. If you haven’t ever been there, I really suggest going because you are never too old for Disney World.

When you first get to Disney World you hop on a tram that takes to from the parking lot to the monorail. After you take the monorail you get dropped off at ticketing, then you have to put your finger in this thing and they scan your fingerprint. They mean business in the Magic Kingdom, Mickey doesn’t fuck around.

what you first see when you walk up

Florida recap (Universal Studios edition)

I don’t even know where to start with this! I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have liked but I did take some! Also, left out are the ones where I look like an idiot or really chubby. Sorry guys, but that’s just not happening!

It stormed and rained off and on all week but never for too long.  The plane got in at like midnight and by the time luggage was retrieved, car rented, checked into the timeshare and settled in it was about 4AM. Needless to say, we slept very late, but that night we decided to hit up Universal Studios: Island of Adventure.

Island of Adventure is awesome because it has the Hulk rollercoaster. It kicks every one of those sissy rides at Six Flags’ asses. When I went two years ago, boyfriend and I just got off it and were walking past it when we seen that some poor smuck’s phone must have fell out of thier pocket and smashed into a million peices. We then realized it was the same phone boyfriend had and oh…wait…it was boyfriend’s phone. We learned our lesson that year, hand off phones, sunglasses and wallets before riding the Hulk.

I also tried to sneak a peak of where they were building The Wizarding World of Harry Potter with no luck. I talked to some people who said they are redoing part of the Lost Continent and building up some not developed part of the park for it! I’m telling you now, I will be there when it opens in 2009.

playing catch up

Remember me? I’m the girl who normally rambles on this little blog here. I know I had some amazing bloggers here for the past week but now you are stuck with me again. I know, I know. I’d be sad too. I missed this place though! Fill me in on what’s going on!

We had Danger Man himself, the lovely and talented Brandy who tells us girls in relationships how it is, Deutlich who is coming to visit me Chicago this weekend, my favorite blog whore, Meghan who screams in strippers faces, the other love of my life, Ben, who enlightened us all about hot, sexy porn, the plan for the blog bash of the century by our hostess with the mostess, Nicole. Friday we had closet White Sox fan, All the Wine, who I absolutely adore and finally, The Googler in the flesh…or text…something like that, but point is – you all now know Jenn’s secret identity.

Now if that isn’t quality entertainment, I don’t know what is. In case you missed any of those, you better get to clickin’!

I’m still working on getting all my vacation photos and thoughts organized but I’ll leave you with Goofy whispering sweet nothings in my ear. He tried to get a little fresh but boyfriend set him in his place.

Magic

It took me 22 years to get to Disney World. My mom wasn’t big on Mickey. Luckily, my boyfriend’s family was! We went and it was seriously the best vacation I ever went on. This is probably because I am such a little kid at heart. I don’t want to grow up, unless I can be a princess when I get there. I don’t care how ridiculous this sounds, but Disney is like a completely different world. It just feels like magic. I’m so serious. We went again the this year and it was just amazing. I loved and can’t wait to go back again.

Imagine my surprise when a few months ago I read they are making a The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios: Island of Adventure. Could Florida be anymore perfect?! I should move there right now! Harry Potter and princesses forever!

Haha, okay but really. I’m a total Harry Potter geek and I don’t really care what people think about that. I go to midnight releases for the books and movies. I usually end up finding a million things wrong with the movies because “it’s just not how I pictured it” but I still have to go see them. (BTW, Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix = so freaking fierce and perfect!) I cried when I read the last two books. I’ve read each of them a million times and know them in and out. Then I find out they are making a Hogwarts and Forbidden Forest in my new favorite place in world? Good lord, are you trying to take all of my money, Florida?

more pictures

I read yesterday that is suppose to open around this time next year. William promised he would indulge me and we would go. I will definitely be there in all my geeky glory, wandering around wide eyed, hoping and wishing to be sorted in to Ravenclaw.

I’m pretty sure you are all going to stop reading, because you now know what a nerd I am!!
