I’m going to stick with yesterday’s theme what you would do with ridiculous amounts of money.
Kinda.
I always say that if I get rich, one of the things I’m going to do is buy a ton of land and build a puppy farm. No, not like a creepy puppy mill. It will basically be a dog sanctuary for homeless puppies who haven’t found their families just yet. They won’t be locked up in tiny cages, will still be safe and fed and will get tons of love. Countless foofoo dog toys and peanut butter bones to cater to their every puppy whim.
And even though I’m not a big fan of cats, there will be a kitty barn too because well, I just can’t leave them out.
That would be my giving back because everyone knows what a sucker I am for dogs. Yes, the Sarah McLaughlin commercials make me cry and I’m not ashamed to admit that I have teared up at the Pedigree Dogs Rule commercials too. I’m sure that’s no surprise to anyone here though.
Mark my words, when I figure out what I’m doing with my life and it makes me millions, there will be a puppy farm.
Your turn now.
You were just given a million dollars but had to give it away to a cause of your choice, what would it be?
(It can be an existing cause or one you want to start)
Basically, I’m all sorts of in love with Britney Spears (pretty sure everyone knows that though). The show Wednesday just confirmed it more if that was possible.
I fought my way through all the strippers and skanks, teeny boppers and dudes who acted like they didn’t want to be there but secretly, inside, they were loving it to my seats which were on the top level but still great view. Put up with the Pussycat Dolls screeching about buttons and hating this part. Drank my pink lemonade vodka something or other. Watched some reject wanna be Cirque du Soliel performances during intermission. Dealt with Perez Hilton’s annoying ass on screen for the intro (HATE PEREZ).
Then finalllly sparks flew out, music started thumping and BritBrit decended from the ceiling heavens and all was right with the world.
First off, let’s get this out of the way. We all know Britney isn’t going to sing so the whole OMG WHY PAY $XXX FOR TICKETS JUST TO SEE HER LIPSYNC shit is pointless. You go there knowing it’s not going to happen so shut up.
I didn’t go to see Britney sing. I went to see a show.
She is a performer. An entertainer.
And you know what, it was awesome. She put on a great show. The costumes, the vibe, the stage, her dancers – everything. There was a lot off of Blackout which is a great album, better than Circus in my opinion. Of course, the classics like Toxic, Baby One More Time and Slave For You. Even a sexy as hell video of Sweet Dreams.
Sorry, no pictures. I forgot my camera and my iPhone camera was just not cooperating.
I would go see it in a second if I had the chance. Go catch the Circus if the tour comes your way. Seriously.
P.S. Britney, I think you need to hire me for your social media team. You’re a rockstar, I’m a rockstar. It’s meant to be.
Let’s make it happen!
It’s finally here!
I’m going to see Britney tonight and it’s going to be amazing.

Try not to be too jealous, guys.
I’ll tell Britney and the Circus you said hi.
This past Saturday at a big loft in the West Loop, Jenn and I hosted a party.

A Nintendo DS party called Girlfriend’s Guide to Gaming. We invited a bunch of Chicago ladies (and an our of towner!) to game it up. We had yummy food, stocked bar, dessert, video games and great company.

Our lovely guests played Brain Age 2, Crosswords, Guitar Hero, and Mario Kart, collecting charms for our pretty, shiny, Nintendo bracelets at each game station. Guitar Hero seemed to be a huge favorite.

I spent most of my time mingling and talking rather than gaming but trust me, I’m killer at Mario Kart. (such an unflattering photo, I hate pictures!)

At the end of the night if you got all four of your charms, you got to take home a brand new DS and a copy of Brain Age 2.

Sweet deal, isn’t it?

Moral of the story: when Nintendo and Brand About Town email you asking if you want to be a Brand Enthusiast, always say yes.

More photos can be found here on Flickr.
Don’t you just love when that happens?
This past weekend I was looking in this box for some notecards and found a hefty amount of cash I had obviously been saving for a rainy day. I awesomely managed to forget about this money I had stashed away and found it just when I needed it.
Like now because I’m broke, dudes.
I just threw down $305 for my BlogHer conference pass. Planning a vacation to Florida with the BFF for early April. Then last minute on Friday, Nicole and I teamed up to throw together a fabulous vacation to the happiest place on earth for early June. No, not Disney World again, silly.
Vegas, baby!
I’m not at all complaining because I want all of these things. I just have awesome timing and choose to plan it all in like a two week period.
I am smart about money managing, duh.
Anyway, then I stumbled on some more cash. Well, not actual money but some pretty fast cash. Remember when I got my shiny pretty iPhone? Well, I still had that god awful Blackberry Pearl laying around too. There are plenty of sites that buy your old cell phones and recycle or use them for parts or whatever so I decided to try to see what I could get for it.
In the end, I went with ibuyphones.com. I just really liked the idea that they teamed up with AmericanForests.org and for each used phone that someone sells to them, they plant one tree. Kind of neat, huh?
Basically, I went to their site, told them what phone I had, they sent me an envelope (and paid for shipping back to them), I popped my phone in and soon after I had a check for $50 sent to me.
Recycling old cell phones. Planting trees. Money in my pocket.
I just can’t go wrong with that, especially since now I think I’m some kind of jet setter who needs to travel every few months.
Pretty soon I’ll have my own travel show. I mean that broad from Girls Next Door got one, right?
I know this is probably old news to you guys but I finally seen this today.
LOVE IT.
This blog would be absolutely nothing and read by no one if I didn’t join the 20SB community. Really. I’ve met the most amazing people in real life and online from it so I could not be more thrilled that we are up for a Weblog Award! So everyone should go vote for us for Best Online Community. You can vote once a day. We are way behind but can definitely catch up so go vote!
In more voting news, we just had nominations for the 20SB Bootleg Awards. It’s so exciting nominating your blog friends and hoping they get recognized for their awesomeness. Last time we did these awards, I won Most Likable. This year, I wasn’t expecting any nominations really because 20SB grew from like 400 to 3,000+ and we have tons and tons of fabulous blogs. I did entertain the thought of Oh How Lovely Shops being nominated for Best Shopping blog and only because I don’t know of any others in 20SB.
To my surprise I ended up being nominated for three awards and winning Best Shopping Blog already (no other shopping blogs got more than one vote).
I was nominated for:
- Best Design
- Best Guest Blogger (my favorite guest posts I’ve done were for Katelin with freakish childhood photos and Renee about ocean liners and gangbangers)
- Best Cross Platform Experience (blog and twitter, in my case and is totally exciting)
I’m totally flattered and was really honestly not expecting any of those. Thank you to those who nominated me!
Anyway point is, voting for the finalists is now open. You should go check out the categories, which blogs are up for what and vote. I don’t even if it’s not for me, you’ll probably find some really great new blogs like I did!
And if for some completely strange reason you are in your 20s and blog and are not part of 20SB?
Well, I’m going to pretend that’s not possible because you’d really be missing out on a great bunch of people!
(go join)

I’ve had a Blackberry Pearl for going on two years now. At first it was pretty cool then the iPhone came out and it became ‘old technology’. Okay, it’s not really old but I like to try to stay on top of my game. I mean, using the same phone for almost two years? That is damn near blasphemy!
Then there was the issue of my Blackberry Pearl being a piece of crap. The trackball never wanted to work, it would get stuck, the menu button never wanted to go to menu, dust would get stuck under the screen and the screen would eventually pop up. It was one thing after the other. THEN, there was the other issue of my being with Tmobile and the iPhone being exclusively on AT&T and costing 5 million dollars for an iPhone plan. The boy got an 1st generation iPhone and unlocked it so I figured I’d do the same eventually. When rumors of the 3G came out, I figured I’d wait for that, buy one and crack that shit!
I was about to get me the newest iPhone!
Then Steve Jobs ruined it for me with all this “you have to have a contract to buy an iPhone” shit. Remember, I wrote him an angry letter expressing my displeasure that he wouldn’t help me cheat the system?

Well what do you think about them apples, Mr. Jobs?
It may have taken awhile but I got me an iPhone! Yeah, it’s a second generation and 8GB but it sure isn’t a stupid, busted BlackBerry Pearl.
I actually was going to take pictures of me and the iPhone running through a field of tulips in slow motion and then draw pink hearts all over it but Chicago weather isn’t being very agreeable. Instead you get me with my phone covering my face because it is too damn early to make myself look pretty and I refused to change out of comfy pants and a 3 year old Armor for Sleep hoodie when it is 11 degrees out (I totally just checked the temp on my iPhone!). At least the phone looks pretty, right?
Okay, now I need your help.
What are the must have iPhone apps? I need a fabulous Twitter app to feed my Twitter addiction too!
For my internship, I have a huge, gigantic, massive project with the potential to be amazing that I’m working on right now. I swear it will be awesome and soon I will be asking for your help with suggestions, feedback and using you all as a sounding board. Not only will you be helping me out but it can also be potentially amazing for you!
Yeah, if that wasn’t vague enough, I don’t know what is.
(But really, it will be great. Promise)
Goals for this week:
- water water water
- cook, don’t waste money on take out
- buy Edie a birthday present
- do some Christmas shopping
- make birthday plans for the boy
- work work work work
- try not to fall so behind on blogs
- try to stop being a crappy blog friend because I can’t keep up with my reader and emails
- work work work work work
How was your weekend? Anything fun planned for this week?
Debbie Deb, anyone?
No?
Boo!
So yes, it is Friday! I’m particlarly looking foward to this weekend because I have some pretty awesome stuff going on.
Tonight I’m double booked. I’ll be at Gals’ Guide’s event at Banana Republic getting all kinds of sweet deals and discounts. Then I’ll be heading over to the Windy Citizen meet up.
Remember a couple weeks ago when I went to the DIY Trunk Show? Well this weekend is Renegade Craft Fair! I’m hopefully meeting up with a few lovely ladies and getting my shop on.
If you’re in Chicago and heading to any of these things, drop me a line.
If you’re not, what are you weekend plans?
