I’m still successful at keeping my bad habit at bay. No nail biting for this girl! Only pretty polished nails here. But I think I may have picked up another bad habit along the way though.
Hi, my name is Jamie and I’m a nail polish addict.
I’ve been changing polish at least once a week, if not more. I have to hit the beauty aisle at every store I’m in to see if there is any polish I need to add to my collection. I’m running out of polish remover at an alarming rate. (You would think I’d be better at neatly painting my own nails though).
Yesterday at Sephora I bought three new colors. Sephora by OPI has the BEST colors and even BETTER names. I mean I can’t turn down a silvery grey that is also called The Queen of Everything. It was practically MADE FOR ME with that name. Or the pretty burgundy chocolately color, Caffeine Fix. Or glittery black called Never Enough Shoes. Because really, a girl can’t have enough shoes. PREACH, OPI.
Before I knew it, I was walking out the door after spending near $30 on nail polish alone.
(Let’s not do the math when you add in my new foundation, eyeliner or the Diorshow Iconic mascara I got which is AMAZING)
(All were incredibly necessary purchases so GET OFF ME)
But a nail polish habit is better than like a crack habit so that’s good, right? Unless they make crack flavored nail polish that is really pretty and has a great name because then I’d be fucked.
Being pretty and girly is expensive, dude.
P.S. Stay tuned for the post where I finally learn how to put on eyeliner unless my sister kills me first because I keep freaking out that I’m going to stab myself in the eye and she really DOES stab me in the eye to prove a point.

I’m a huge fan of the OPI colours at Sephora, honestly I used to use cheap stuff and after hearing all these girls talk about how much they love it I took the plunge…
… and I’ll just say that if this is a sickness, I need treatment too. At least we’re fancy and stuff in the mean time!

Hahahaha WELCOME TO MY ADDICTION! Seriously, I love love love nail polish. It’s bad news when I trawl every nail polish aisle in any store I’m in. And I bought two OPI for Sephora colors last weekend – “Dark Room” (a really dark gray) and a blue whose name I forget right now. Love them!
Great post, obviously.

@jessica maria, I need to get my hands on the mint candy apple you have. It’s lighter than I normally do but I just need to have it. You never know when a mint candy apple mood will hit!

I am totally addicted to nail polish too. OPI is the best and worth the money because it lasts so long. I can go two weeks without repainting my toe nails. Not that I can wait that long to put on a new color!

While I do not share your nail polish addiction (mostly because I am LA-ZY)…I totally feel you on the eyeliner. It only took me, oh, 20 years to decide to wear it and another 5 to get any good at putting it on. Best wishes!

Haha, reading this post was like looking in a mirror. I LOVE nail polish but I’m kind of snob in the sense that I will only buy OPI. I just tried out a new color this weekend too – No Spain, No Gain – love it!
And I agree with Meghan – we DEF. need pics of the nails!

My go-to form of relaxation is getting a spa pedicure. I’m pretty tense most of the time, so those $30 pedis can really add up… but oh, so worth it.

@nancypearlwannabe, pedicures are the best thing in the WORLD. I’m excited now that I have nails because a lot of places do a mani/pedi combo for like $30. SO awesome.

Ummmm, I am a newly addicted nail polish person. However, I can’t do my own nails, so I go buy fun colors and then take them to my nail place where I only spend $8! Not bad for perfect nails, right?

I love the OPI stuff too, however, with a house and all that garbage I can’t justify spending the $9 a bottle at Sephora. So what do I do? Buy it on ebay for $3
Win.

Yay for you! I know how hard it is. I just stopped biting my nails again a week ago (a.k.a. my umpteenth try) and so far I am doing good (not feeling the úrge to bite). I hope to keep it up this time. My nails are currently painted black, I figure that will remind me to keep them out of my mouth.
For a nail biter I have a huge nail polish collection as well (though I stick with the $2-3 brands). I am still looking for a minty green color but haven’t found one here yet.

@Jamie, actually I just googled and did find a store that sells it here (Douglas, if you’ve heard of it) but the price is ridiculous. It costs $18 here (almost four times as much as Amazon.com where it costs $5).

I agree – OPI at Sephora is the best! I just bought two new ones there this weekend… an orange-y coral for my toes and a dark red for my fingers. It’s like winter in my fingers and summer on my toes.
I think their polish is the right level of thickness (very scientific way to put it…) and the brushes are small which makes it even harder to screw up!

I can always justify buying nail polish because a bottle lasts FOREVER. And even if you’re buying OPI or whatever for $10 a bottle, think how economical you’re being instead of going for a pro manicure every week?! It’s completely worth it. My favourites are OPI Lincoln Park After Dark and You Don’t Know Jacques. I want to try the matte ones next!

I LOVE NAIL POLISH & LONG NAILS! I can relate since I used to be a biter and I love my nails now. I have to admit that sometimes if it gets way too long I’ll bite it off (not too short though) and the cycle repeats. My nail polish never stays on too long… I currently love dark colors right now!
