resolutions are for bitches

Alright now that 2009 is behind me, I think it’s time for some 2010 goals. Not resolutions because much like rules, they are just meant to be broken.

  • Career: more writing gigs, continue looking for a job in what I want to do and go back to school whether it’s part-time, online, nights, weekends or whatever.
  • Mind: continue to take care of my emotional health. No need for people who bring me down, talk negatively or have no respect for me. I’m focusing on keep positive people in my life. I spent way too much of 2009 worrying, anxious or feeling hurt. Those are the last things I need and won’t tolerate it anymore. Rising above, dude.
  • Body: get my weight and body image in order. I’m not allowed to complain about it if I’m not being proactive anymore. Eat more veggies, stop with the Pepsi once and for all and possibly cut out red meat (I KNOW, RIGHT?).
  • Random: wear more dresses. Go see more live rock shows. Volunteer. Go out at every opportunity. Spoil myself. Step outside of my comfort zone. Send actual mail via post. Curse less even though I already failed with this title. Reach out to others. Say yes more. Continue to wear pink on Wednesdays.

Read more. Laugh more. Write more. Travel more. Learn more. Love more. And most importantly–

DO EPIC SHIT.

DO EPIC SHIT.

The best resolution I’ve heard so far!

[Reply]

Do Epic Shit!

[Reply]

Yep, those all sound Jamie-able. I believe in you.

Bring it on, 2010.

[Reply]

LOVE the random category!

As for the being more healthy one . . . all over that too. I think we all need to form some sort of MUTANT DIET BLOG where we all egg each other on…

[Reply]

do epic shit. says it all. I have complete faith that you will ROCK 2010.

p.s. I think #haterstotheleft needs to be printed on t-shirts. you have no idea how much I need that in my life.

[Reply]

Those are great goals!

[Reply]

you can do it! love the list- especially pink on wednesdays ;)

[Reply]

Those are fantastic goals. Except for the cursing. Four letter words are my favorites.

[Reply]

DO EPIC SHIT. Incredible !

[Reply]

I’m with you, i’m def. going to spoil myself more! Happy New YEar

[Reply]

Don’t forget, only wear your hair up once per week and no sweat pants.

[Reply]

I’m totally cheering you on in all of these! I need to make my resolutions SOON!

Also, I need to start wearing pink on Wednesdays, too. ;)

[Reply]

It’s definitely going to be an epic year. Good luck with your goals!

[Reply]

All wonderful goals/ideas! I have no doubt that you’ll do it and do it well.

[Reply]

They actually sound like doable goals. Also? Love your random ones.

[Reply]

YES WE WILL.

[Reply]

Lots of good goals here. Can’t wait to follow along for the journey :)

[Reply]

I’m with you on the goals not resolutions thing. I love all of your goals. Especially wearing more dresses. That’s one of my goals too :)

[Reply]

LOL. Do epic shit. I love it, Jamie.

As in for travel more, I definitely need that. Wish I could graduate soon, get a job and paid a lot so I could do that. I wanna go to spainnnnnnnn :(

[Reply]

your resolutions are BOMB.

i especially like the last grouping. i wanna wear more dresses this year too.

[Reply]

Your “Mind” resolutions? Well, Jamie… ME FUCKING TOO. 3am, New Year’s morning, all this negativity from negative people came to a head and I realized: I DON’T HAVE ROOM IN MY LIFE FOR SHIT THAT IS NOT AWESOME. And, Honey, you don’t either. Cheers to 2010. Let’s do this together.

[Reply]

I think ‘Do Epic Shit’ should be all of our mantras for 2010. I like your goal of sending more proper mail, too. I’m aiming to send a postcard a day for a whole year in 2010. So far, I haven’t failed. But its only five days in.

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@CuppyCakes, that is an awesome idea! Good luck :)

[Reply]

I accidentally read “go see more live rock shows” as “go see more live stock shows.” hahahahah

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@Alana, personally I think everyone should see more live stock shows ;)

[Reply]

I’m so excited to hear what you go back to school for! Have an epic year, miss- you deserve it.

[Reply]

That’s an epic list, so I know you’ll succeed. :)

[Reply]

I love the idea of sending REAL mail. It’s so much fun to check the mail and actually HAVE mail instead of just coupons and catalogs (although they never hurt to get!)

[Reply]

“I’m not allowed to complain about it if I’m not being proactive anymore.”
THIS TIMES A BILLION.

I really, really wish that my roommate would make that resolution. Oh the amount of time she whines over her appearance (esp. weight) to me and I’m like “DUDE, DO SOMETHING!” But I can’t really say that all that often or it’s rude. Only sometimes. Because then I’m only a little bit rude.

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@gem, I’ve done my share of doing nothing. The only way it’s going to happen is if I shut up and DO IT. Sometimes we need a little bit rude to get it through our heads haha

[Reply]

I plan on doing a lot of EPIC SHIT this year. Including moving to Colorado. By myself. Awesomeness.

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@T, very awesome! Good luck there. Doniree.com is moving to Boulder this month, you should connect with her!

[Reply]

you can totally do it jamie, let’s be epic.

[Reply]

Up until I met my husband in May of 2008, I was a 7-year vegetarian. After tasting steak, there is NO WAY I could turn my back from it. GOOD LUCK, DUDE.

Also, I am with you on the weight thing, which is why I let that bitch Jillian work her magic on me last night and now I feel like shit. But in a good way.

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@barbetti, man, fuck Jillian Michaels. I hate her but she knows her shit because I’m basically dead after the Shred!

[Reply]

I totally concur with WEAR MORE DRESSES! I have eight dresses in my closet that have NEVER BEEN WORN. What is up with that. Must be rectified, immediately!

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@SassyGirl, I’m the same way. I have quite a few that haven’t even had the tags taken off!

[Reply]

“Continue to wear pink on Wednesdays.” Regina George would approve. These are great goals!

[Reply]

Amen to your goals for body & mind!

[Reply]

love it! i’m all for 2010 goals and not resolutions. i’ve been meaning to do that for a few days! (so don’t feel too utterly copied when i leave this comment and then go directly to my blog to do my own hahah)

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@Amy, copied? Never. It’s totally going around so I wouldn’t think that :)

[Reply]

I keep reading people’s resolutions & saying to myself, “Oh, another good one. Add that to the imaginary list!” I’m afraid this whole first time resolution thing may backfire on me. We’ll see. I’ll either end up really awesome, or just partially awesome. How can that be bad, right?

[Reply]

I mean goals. Please excuse me while I miss the ENTIRE POINT.

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@Heather Rose, hahah I know what you meant :)

[Reply]

Amendment: Do Epic Shit WITH NICOLE

[Reply]

we feel the same re: resolutions. goals are much easier to get over when you fuck ‘em up. resolutions? not. because then everyone’s all… “so… did you do epic shit today?” wading around in guilt is not my idea of *fun*. so, i like goals.

[Reply]

I cut out red meat, go me! Makes me sick anyway. Oh, and I didn’t really make any resolutions because then I feel like crap when I don’t keep them. I only swore to make 2010 better than 2009 because um, 2009? Yeah, it sucked.

Good luck Jamie! :)

[Reply]

These are some pretty awesome goals! Cutting out red meat is not a bad idea, and it’s not all that hard. I’ve started using ground turkey instead of ground beef (for tacos, spaghetti, etc) and chicken for everything! Some healthy snacks I’ve discovered that I love so far this year, in my attempt to eat healthier are: yogurt, apples & (all natural) peanut butter, and cheese & triscuits. I’m actually finding that I like this stuff better than the junk, and it makes me feel a whole lot better too!

I also love your goals to go out at every opportunity and step out of your comfort zone. Sometimes these things can be hard to do, but they really make you feel like you are living. Wonderful!

[Reply]

Sweet – just found your blog and I like your list. Mostly the noted irony in cursing less in your post titled “Resolutions are for Bitches’. Awesome.

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@kage, I said I’d TRY to curse less. hahaha, oh well.

Thanks for stopping by!

[Reply]

Don’t cut out cursing. Politeness is also for bitches and potty-mouths are more awesome anyway.

Keep it the fuck up :-P

p.s. I heart your blog.

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@Marian Schembari, oh god. There is no way I could cut out cursing completely. I mean seriously, fuck that. Politeness is totally for bitches. Awesome people curse.

p.s. thanks for stopping by!
