see yaaa 2009

The year is almost over and THANK GOD FOR THAT. It’s been a rough one.

Breaking 2009 down.

Ready?

OKAY.

January
I failed at smiling with my eyes for photo shoot for the New York Times. This is why I would never be America’s Next Top Model but then Tyra herself commented and told me how she braved a photo shoot in Antarctica wearing a swimsuit and that she believes in me. It was totally inspirational.

February
I dealt with the whole can you be friends after a big break up thing and got a ton of support. For the record, we are friends still and see each other often. It might not work for everyone but it works for us. For the moment, at least.

March
I left the startup I helped launch
. I did a hell of a lot for them and don’t think it was appreciated so it was time to move on. But besides that, I happened to host a Nintendo Girlfriends Guide to Gaming party too in March and it was all kinds of amazing.

April
I went to the Circus to see a living legend. I also confessed my slight obsession with Lifetime movies.

May
In May, my blog disappeared and turned into some nun website. I learned to always back your blog up or you will end up bursting into tears and your friend will be like WTF it’s just the internet and you’ll be all like JUST THE INTERNET?! MORE LIKE MY LIFE! I also shared my dream jobs and I’m still waiting for someone to create them and hire me because hi, I’m awesome.

June
I confessed how I use to steal from the library but paid my dues and now me and the library are in love. And the highlight of my year: VEGAS BABY! All my bffs and Cirque’s LOVE. It was the best weekend ever.

July
I told everyone about my favorite comeback: CRUCIO. I also met Tim Gunn, did naughty things to a cardboard cutout of Edward Cullen and drunkenly video blogged all while wearing a McDonald’s bag as a hat at BlogHer.

August
I posed the most important question ever: Friends or Seinfeld? (the correct answer is Friends if you’re wondering) I also decided not to settle because I know what I’m worth.

September
I talked about how some of my favorite memories are connected to music. Working Girl Two and I hosted the most amazing Pretty Wine Label Party ever for the Chicago ladies. And then celebrated my blog’s two year birthday.

October
There was retail therapy. There was a sort of life list. And a feeling I was pretty much waiting the entire year to feel.

November
Dealing with a parent’s middle life crisis
. Ugh. But RPattz learned of my existence and we are now registered at Pottery Barn. And I stopped biting my nails. Go me!

December
I decided I was just going to do epic shit. Shaba sent me an awesome diamond encrusted toothbrush. My puppy Edie turned two years old. And blog world rallied around an amazing friend.

So there you have it. 2009. I had a few good moments but I’m so ready to put it all behind me.

2010 is going to be when everything comes together for me.

I just know it.

I feel similarly. While some interesting stuff happened to me in 2009, there was enough crap to mar it a little, and I am keen to make a fresh start next year.

Here’s to a fab 2010 for us both. :)

[Reply]

I’m so glad that 2009 was the year I got to yell “Jaime!” and then run up and hug you. Let’s do that again in 2010, only this time let’s have a chat over some drinks, too!

Here’s 2010 being full of Awesome, amen.

[Reply]

Um, you forgot to say that you met ME in 2009. Ouch! ALSO, 2010 IS going to rock for you because you deserve it!

Hi. Blog lurker here. ;) (Smiles awkwardly and waves) I’m definitely ready for 2009 to be over so a great new year can start!

[Reply]

fyi i’m so ready for 2009 to be over blogher and the wedding were about my only highlights and moving to ct. but that hasn’t proven itself as worthy of a giant YIPEE yet. Though CT > DC.

In short, 2010…bring it on!

PS Will we be partying in NYC for blogher again??? Bring Edie – he and ellie can have a play date ;) (i’m kidding. maybe)

Your work at that start-up was appreciated more than you realize. Some people just aren’t very good about expressing it.

Onto 2010!

[Reply]

Wow, what a year!

I agree, though… 2009 kinda majorly sucked. 2010’s gotta be better, right? Right.

Happy (early) New Year! :)

I don’t even know what the cuss happened in 2009. I know I didn’t get enough sleep. 2010 is definitely going to involve more shut-eye, and, you know, amazing stuff.

Quite a year! So jealous of you meeting Tim Gunn and going to blogher (although I don’t participate on blogher like ever).

I hear ya about 2010… I’m hoping it’s the same for me too!

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@Ari, I hope it treats you nicely :) Happy New Year!

[Reply]

I loved those photos we took of us with Edward Cullen. Next time we’ll steal him and take “after hours’ photos.

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@Jessica, those ones definitely won’t be blog or Facebook appropriate.

[Reply]

You meet Tim Gunn, I met Matt Logelin, there’s my celebrity meeting in Vegas of all places.

Happy almost 2010!

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@allison, I remember reading about that! That was pretty random!

[Reply]

my thoughts on your year

jan- hahaha. made me laugh. i’ve tried with girl friends to smile with my eyes. i end up looking extra slanty/chinky. so now i focus on thinking “big eyes”, thus ignoring smiling with your eyes completely. AWKWARD

month? – yay for leaving the start up you helped launch because you felt underappreciated. i called it quits at my job too because i was sometimes leaving at midnight and going in at 4:30am. way to follow your happiness (or leave unhappiness? whatever.)

month? – congrats on being friends after a break up. that’s….. quite an accomplishment, let me tell ya

May: – TRAUMATIZING! just the internet, my ass.

that’s all.

happy new year :)

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@linda, just the internet, my ass is right!

Cheers!

[Reply]

LOL I loved when your website turned into a nun site.
It was totally scary and “WHAT HAPPENED?” but I think you should do a hoax of that every year, because it was the most random thing.

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@Kyla Roma, now that I look back on it, it is so funny. But when it happened, it was totally traumatizing!

[Reply]

Still a super busy year – and you’ve come out of at the end, as awesome as ever. :)

Happy 2010!

[Reply]

Jamie Reply:

@alyndabear, you too! :)

[Reply]

Happy New Year, friend with the fabulous hair!

For the record, I am still not okay with the results of the Seinfeld/Friends debate. But fiiiiiiiiiine.

[Reply]

I’m ready for 2010 as well. You had quite a full year – here’s to a better 2010!!

[Reply]

If I wasn’t so lazy, I would totally have done a year in review post. I think I might just reference yours since I did a few of the things on here too. Cool. Thanks.

[Reply]

Happy New Year!!! I think doing epic shit is pretty much the best resolution ever!

[Reply]

Luv your 2009 back story. I’m totally in sync about never looking back — it’s gonna be better. I’m thinking really positively about the new decade. It’s gotta be better, right?
