boobs

I have them.

And yeah, they are pretty great if I do say so myself. I’ve had no complaints.

But my great boobs are besides the point. What I’m talking about is what helps accentuate the pure greatness of them: a good bra.

It’s that time again. Bra shopping.

Normally, I’ll just go to Victoria’s Secret pick out whatever is prettiest or is closest (depending on my shopping mood) in hopes that I’ll look like Marisa Miller when I put it on. Clearly, that hasn’t happened just yet because I would be walking around in my underwear all day, every day regardless of the fucking weather.

(Get on that, Vicky. Share that secret with the rest of us normal folk and we will shower you with more money than you can dream of.)

But really, people just assume Victoria’s Secret is the best place to go for all things lacy, sexy time-ish and push upping. Is this really the case? Does Victoria’s Secret do it best? Should I be looking elsewhere? Where are all the best bras at?

Most of my readers are female so I’m sure you have to have some input on this topic.

Bras. Pretty ones. That don’t suck.

Where can I find them?

(Within reason, of course. If I had the money, I’d clearly be walking into Agent Provocateur and suiting up.)

Help the girls out.

P.S. Boys, if you read this far in hopes to see some boobs, here: your reward.

Victoria's Secret bras have never fit me. Ever. I typically get the classic brands – Maidenform, Vanity Fair and even Target has blessed me with several of my favorite bras. Also, Ross and TJ Maxx have some options, but it's usually harder to find a nice one that fits well.

I was about to say agent provocateur..or la perla. Omg so pretty, all lacy goodness that aren't too tacky and look sophisticated.

How about la senza? Assuming you have one there ( I heard it's originally from the states, or do I read the label wrong?). The price is just like VS, and they have those cute colorful bras..

[Reply]

Not sure where you are, but I used to LOVE H&M when I lived near one. It was the only place I'd go. Sure, that was a few years ago. Now I have to settle for VS, even though they aren't really great quality anymore it seems like. I am on a search too, since new sets are part of my current plans. :) (found you through someone's blog roll, through someone's blog roll…. don't remember who though)

I was unfamiliar with Agent Provocateur and it's safe to say that I absolutely LOVE that. So thanks for sharing. Sorry this comment is no help, but you helped me and my girls, so there's that.

I have been wearing Vanity Fair bras for about a year or so. They fit me and aren't as expensive as Vicky's. Usually you can get a good deal, like buy one get one half off, or buy 2 get a free one. Or some such variation. I also just bought an Ambrielle bra and that one fit me well too.

I just went to Victoria's Secret for the first time in years because I never thought they fit me right, etc. I had been wearing plain ones from Gap Body for the last couple years, but I decided to try out the new VS BioFit Uplift bra and I LOVE THEM. Fit is definitely the most important thing — a lot of women apparently wear the wrong bra size all the time — so I sucked up my modesty and asked them to fit me. I even walked out topless to show the ladies how each bra fit, and we were able to adjust and find the perfect size. Good luck — can't wait to see your boobies and your face when I come back!

I buy VS bras only… but not necessarily the “pretty” ones. Just a variety of different kinds and I really like them! I buy them during the Semi-Annual Sale online, which is even better.

[Reply]

I have a trusted favorite brand. I get it at Wal-Mart and it cost $10. I would tell you what it is, but I really don't know. I cut the labels off because they make me itch, and then I promptly forget what it is I bought. The point is that there are good bras to be had at Wal-Mart.

PS: I hate Disqus. Seriously, we had a good thing going. Why change it?

[Reply]

Victoria's Secret – I love the place, but their bras are crap. The elastic does NOT last and… they don't fit in the first place.

Calvin Klein bras – particularly the Perfect Fit – are where it's at. They're sold at Nordstrom and Macy's and a ton of other places – although at Nordstrom they have fitters who will make sure you're wearing the right bra…. I highly recommend starting there.

[Reply]

Since apparently bra manufacturers don't think girls with small boobs also want to wear pretty yet functional bras, I gave up on pretty a long time ago. I just buy mine at Kohl's.

[Reply]

i either shop at VS or Target – target's are cute, comfy and very affordable :)

[Reply]

Thank you. Im a huge fan of Marisa Miller!

[Reply]

Weird.

I was driving to work today, and I started thinking about HOW BADLY I need a couple new bras. And ones that AREN'T just built for comfort.

I need something pretty, that isn't agonizing to wear, and that makes my cans look great (or greater than they usually do).

[Reply]

Gah, Marisa Miller is BY FAR my favorite Victoria's Secret model. Actually, I might even go lesbian for her. LOVE her.

Anyway, I actually stick to Vicky's myself so I can't exactly help you out. But there's a particular style I pick every time, so I guess you can say I've found THE bra that works best for me. I tend to stick to things that work well.

[Reply]

i like aerie by american eagle. they have a great variety of designs. i have also had great success with Calvin Klien. good luck! finding a right bra really does make a world of difference!

[Reply]

lol! Oh my goodness, this is too cute!
I think that most cities have local boutique bar stores that are kind of awesome. We are still sans VS in my city so our local 'bra bar' is a great place for accurate measurements & hilarious help from older ladies.

[Reply]

Victoria's Secrets bras are, to me, the worst. They are pretty and whatnot, but never fit right. You should go to a department store, JC Penny, Mervin's, Nordstrom, and get fitted. THAT is the best thing you can do for your girls. Proper sizing makes all the difference.

[Reply]

I tend to get all my bras from VS. I have gotten a couple from Target that were pretty cute, but the quality, eh, not so great.

Now Agent Provocateur – that's some sexy stuff! (And a small fortune!)

[Reply]

well being that I am less endowed up top than most, VS bras have NEVER been my friend because their smallest size is still ill-fitting for me.

I've always gone to my local department store, in my case it's Dillard's, and they have a great selection and a bra-fitters on hand. Since it is a department store, they have a wide variety of types of bras and there's usually a sale going on. can't go wrong.

I've actually fallen in love with chico's bra brand SOMA recently. Seriously most comfortable bras I've ever had and they are cute too.

I also love betsey johnson bras.

I love them.

[Reply]

I was always all Victoria's Secret-ey, but really? So expensive! I loooove the bras I bought from aerie (part of American Eagle) this summer. Sexy and comfortable.

[Reply]

I always go to Victoria's Secret. They're a little more expensive, but the quality is good. I also like that they will measure you. My size had changed dramatically, and had they not fit me, I would've never known.

[Reply]

Oh bra shopping, the bane of my existence. I actually don't like Vicky's for bras at all – I find they size you wrong and often don't have “odd” sizes. For instance, they sized me as a 34D but wasn't satisfied with the fit. So I went to Nordstrom – lo and behold I'm actually a 32DDD, which has made all the difference! However, Vicky's doesn't carry that size in their store. Nordstrom has a wonderful selection of both affordable and expensive, in many styles and colors (and sizes!) and the sales people are extremely helpful.

[Reply]

i'm a vicky's girl all the way. i never venture anywhere else, i help keep them in business basically.

[Reply]

ok. because i have BIG boobs, i don't normally go for vicky's – they just don't support enough, they are too pretty.

someday when i get them reduced maybe then ill be able to wear a demi-cup but until then i always find nice lacey bras at macy's or dillards.

i bet you can do the same!

I always get sized at Victoria's Secret if it has been a while and then if you ask them they'll help you find the right kind of bra for what you want. I like their push-up bras and their Italian bras…although not all stores carry their Italian line. Oprah did a show not where they said it's some crazy % of women who wear the wrong bra size!

[Reply]

So yeah, I've been meaning to write this post for ages!

[Reply]

Oh, I stick with Vicky's just because I've always thought they were best (and they're they only ones that fit right – it's tough to find my size ANYwhere but Vicky's, and even then, I have to wait til semi-annual sale time because finding a 34 DD is next to impossible…I don't know where they came from since my mom is like a negative A cup, so I feel your pain!). I did once find my size at Macy's in a DKNY bra and it was fantastic – buuuut it was just as expensive at Vicky's so if you find the golden bra ticket, let me in on the secret!!

[Reply]

personally i like VS, but only their new biofit bras.

they're not especially SEXY but they make your shirts look great.

[Reply]

I've found that Target actually carries decent, cute, and affordable bras. Not everything is cute, obviously, but the last several times I've gone bra shopping I've went there and found a some amazing bras.

[Reply]

I've tried about a gamillion different kind of bras from fancy retailers all the way down to Wal-Mart, and the ones that always work for me are Lily of France, which I buy at Macy's or at a Kohls discount store (I don't know if those exist up around you). I think the problem is everyone's boobs are different, so what works for me probably won't work for you.

I think it's also worth it to get a professional bra fitting … sometimes it's just a matter of getting the right size.

[Reply]

Okay. So this is how you get the conversation started. Talk about boobs. I gotta keep that one in my blogging bag of tricks.

My favorite bra is the Very Sexy by Victoria's Secret. I have it in ten different colors and I don't see myself wearing any other bra for many years.

[Reply]

H&M bras – Cheap, cute, comfortable and usually have underwear that matches. I almost wrote panties but then remembered that I hated that word.

[Reply]

I actually get most of my bras from American Eagle’s Aerie collection. I’ve never had a VS bra, but I need to take a look.

[Reply]

I have been needing to go buy new bras for a really long time. I was just planning on getting fitted at Nordstrom since they carry all sorts of brands.

Let us know how your search goes.

[Reply]

I used to wear Vickie’s (and since I’ve lost weight and they are THE ONLY place that sells 32D, I’m back there now) but then I found Aerie. It’s the bra and undies section of American Eagle. Their bras are super cute, in lots of fun colors, and they are a decent amount cheaper than Vickie’s. Give them a try! The best part, they have an awesome return policy. One bra I bought rubbed me raw in one spot so I called them. They said I could return it even after I washed it! No questions asked!

[Reply]

ooo i just found this great bra: http://glammed.blogspot.com/2009/11/my-moms-bff.html

it has lace built into the top so you don’t have to wear a cami with low tops/dresses.

@elledee, thanks! I’ll check it out :)

Since my chest is pretty big, I’ve had good luck with a few styles from Victoria’s Secret. Unfortunately, none of the cheap bras I see at department stores or Target fit well, so I have to splurge whenever I get a new bra.

[Reply]

Seriously, I have a way-too-big chest for a girl my height. I went to Intimacy. If there’s one in your area, you have to go. HAVE TO. They take care of you, they know all about boobs, and I feel like I’ve lost 10 pounds, by switching my bra.
