Retail therapy is probably one of the best inventions ever.

No, really.

Sometimes you just need to buy shit. And then that shit makes you feel better.

This past weekend I went out to buy a new pair of boots and flats. But I happened to walk into TJ Maxx first because sometimes they just have good pieces and you get lucky. Well, I just had to do a quick run through of the handbags and then my eyes fell upon it.

THE BEST BAG IN THE ENTIRE WORLD.

(okay, maybe not world but the most perfect bag that I’ve never needed that day)

And I told twitter that I was in love but was having a hard time justifying it, you know with the whole been poor and jobless thing. So I proceeded to take many a lap around the store trying to talk myself into buying it or putting it down.

So I walked and walked around the store and then this happened:

This bag has been sitting here. Taunting me. Begging me to just take the damn tags off already. But I had to consult you all first. Here it is in all it’s purple leather, long strap AND handles WITH a zipper, roomy glory. It’s kind of everything I want in a bag that doesn’t start with “M” and end with “arc Jacobs.”

(It kind of reminds me of this Miu Miu bag I’ve been obsessed with for the past 2 years that I will probably never own until I get a sugar daddy.)

So there you have it. The bag I probably should return.

Keep it or return it?

P.S. You’re fucking crazy if you think I’m going to return this. I just felt better pretending I would at least consider it. Let’s just talk about how pretty it is.
P.P.S. Don’t judge me! It wasn’t that that much.
P.P.P.S. FINE, stop pressuring me. It was $150 but it was the best goddamn $150 I have spent recently. Don’t you see how pretty it is?!

Beautiful, but I don’t know if its $150 beautiful. But it is purple….

I bought my first Linea Pelle bag when I was jobless and poor as fuck.

It was worth every penny.

If it makes you happy it is worth every penny! Think of how long it will make you happy and how long you will use it! Enjoy your find!

I always vote for KEEP THE BAG! haha. If it helps at all, I just think you should know that purple is THE color for this season! So yeah, I think you should keep it.

It’s pretty! And $150 isn’t THAT much for something you’ll carry all the time. I like purple. Much more fun than basic black.

What good is a handbag fund if you can’t dip into it I LOVE THE BAG – it is pure purple perfection (and a lot of alliteration)!!

I’m so sad I wasn’t able to see you and have some retail therapy with you while I was in Chicago. Promise me we can plan something and do retail therapy soon.

I also am a big fan – the feeling of walking through aisles of things you can’t “afford” but could get if you wanted to is so amazing.

I bought a BCBG dress that I didn’t need because I want to feel extra pretty when I meet my boyfriend’s ex. Now I have to buy shoes and jewelry to match, but I don’t regret it one bit! Retail therapy definitely works and I’m sure you won’t regret buying that bag either!

Dude, I had a moment like that at Marshall’s a month or so ago – I walked in and this bag SPOKE to me. Like, jumped in my arms and had to go home with me. I so shouldn’t have been spending money on a bag, but it’s still my favorite, gets dragged EVERYWHERE, and I get a ton of compliments.

You obviously had enough money or credit to get it out the door – if it makes you happy, keep it. We all deserve a treat now and then. Besides when you get to be my age and have kids you won’t be able to justify it (I say as I drool over a similarly priced bag that will just get filled up with goldfish and cheerios and chewed on and drooled on and dragged around anyway).

honestly, darling, i have no room to judge anyone on purse purchasing. granted i’ve never paid a hundred and fifty, but i DO buy a new purse probably 4 times a year. sooo… yeah.

And retail therapy is the best kind. Rather than paying some idiot $50/hour to listen to my nonsense, I go buy myself something pretty. Works for me, and a much better use of the little cash I do have.

Honestly? I say keep it. It feels good to splurge every now and then, and a purse like that is something you’ll have for years. Also, I think it’s a good idea to splurge on things like this while you can – I mean, if I were to try to do something like that nowadays, my husband would probably leave me in a hot second.

Well, okay, maybe not literally, but there would definitely be threats.

Ugh. I’m a sensible person and I have made purchases that I have had to return. REALITY: no job. No buy. Think of the things that are BETTER than that (HERMES bag?) that you will be able to buy when you are more solvent.
