change

Summer left very quickly here in Chicago. I feel like God must have flipped the switch and sent us right to 50-60 degree weather and didn’t even ease us in to fall.

I don’t mind much though. Autumn is my favorite season. It’s cool but not cold and I find the brisk air refreshing. I’m not a fan of summer or winter. I like it just in the middle. And fall in Chicago is perfect. That is, when it lasts longer than two weeks before we are plummeted into the brutal winter that makes me hate my life.

But I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts.

I’m ready for the changing leaves. My puppy barking at and chasing the fallen ones. I’m ready for scarves and boots. Tights and hats. A new fall coat. Fall television. Cardigans. Hot chocolate and chicken noodle soup. Not together though, duh. Cuddling under blankets. Taking long walks. Kicking leaves. That fall smell. You know the one I mean.

It’s fall.

I love it.

I smelled “cold” outside last night. You know… the smell like right before it snows, how the air changes. It didn’t snow (and it better not yet), but that CRISPNESS was certainly present last night and I LOVED it.

I’m with you – fall is the BEST. And the midwest does it right.

Fall, so far, is less brutal here in NC. We went from 82 as a high yesterday to 72 today – overnight lows in the low 50s. But it’s enough to pull out a sweater and trade in my flipflops for socks and shoes. And I’m totally excited about it!

The same happened in Pittsburgh! Early last week it was warm, and then it was rainy and humid and muggy, and then it got chilly!!

I love the smell of fall! The chill in the air, apples, pumpkins, and best of all my favorite colors (red, orange, yellow, and brown).

My train ride from Chi to NYC was full of gorgeous leaves and changing weather.

Favorite time of year.

My favorite time of year ever!

That picture is so pretty and perfectly describes WHY I LOVE fall – all the pretty colours.

I also enjoy the cool, brisk temperatures. My two favourite months are definitely September and October but then we plummet into the FREEZING cold winter and I also end up hating my life!

Fall is my favorite – love that picture!

I’m with you. I love, love love Autumn.

It really did change quickly, didn’t it? One day it was hot and humid and the next day it was freezing out. I had to wear a coat today. A coat! I love fall, but the quick weather change has me reeling a bit.

Fall is my fave season. Well, maybe our fall here in the south is your summer there in Chicago. But the colors are truly amazing!

[Reply]

I love it! The air is so crisp and refreshing.

I love the fall air – the breezes and cooler temps. I can’t wait to break out my cardigans, boots and scarves.

Fall has finally arrived at my place too! Simply love it :)

Fall always reminds me of pumpkin spice and cinnamon apples. Also a great time to enjoy a rum and hot cider. I’m ready for fall just not sucky ol’ winter.

Living Florida, I don’t get to experience what you described. It gets slightly chiller around November, but there is no subtle changes. It saddens me. That’s why I can’t wait to go to Chicago. I hope to get my visit in there because all hell freezes over.

Summer left Chicago quickly? I don’t think summer fully arrived. There was only one week of 90+ temps. I feel like this has been the smoothest transition into fall that we’ve had in ages. But I work outside, so maybe I have a different view of things…

i am right there with you, i love all things autumn, so pretty and brisk and comfy and love it all.

We don’t have fall in LA, so I am going to equate your fall with our winter so that it matches up right.

And ah, yes, how awesome it is.

Pretty picture! I love the colors of fall. When do we get one of your pup chasing the leaves, though? That’ll be way cuter! :)

I love love love fall!! That crisp smell reminds me of the best days of my childhood. I’m like you – I prefer the in between of fall vs the summer/winter in NY (which is probably similar to Chicago)

[Reply]

Yup.. I was walking through the park the other day with my dog and taking crappy cell.phone pictures of the leaves finally starting to change color. It must be because I was born this season, maybe, that I love fall more than the other seasons??

[Reply]

Ha- my doggy does the exact same thing!
I’m so happy that Fall is coming back.
Two days ago it was like 80-some degrees out, so yeah. Bring on the cold!

[Reply]

Duh. My birthday’s in two weeks! CLEARLY it’s the best season!;-)

This fall I want to rake a huge pile of leaves and jump into them. I may have to take a ton of benadryl to accomplish that but man, it sounds fun.

[Reply]

I’m jealous! Completely jealous. I want to smell the crisp air of Fall and lay in a pile of leaves.

[Reply]

I like the change of seasons to, and the different fashions that come with them. :D

[Reply]

So jealous. 1. That you live in Chicago and 2. That you get to see Fall. Ah ha. Us Floridians see two seasons hot and a little less hot.
