cirque du soleil: love

With parents who were hippies, artists and musicians back in their day, I was obviously exposed to lots of music growing up. Of course, The Beatles were in a staple in my household. It took me three trips to Las Vegas before I was finally able to see LOVE.

And it was totally worth the wait.

Our seats were dead center and absolutely amazing. Well, the stage was round in the intimate theater but I’m assuming based on props, we were technically in front of the stage. But really there was not a bad seat in the house. The images were projected onto screens and the speakers built into the seats just heightened the experience.

It was really more of an experience than a show. The colors, the costumes, the attention to detail and just the overall energy was radiating. I really don’t think I stopped smiling through the whole show. There was so much going on, I could barely focus. It was total sensory overload but in the best way possible.

I’ve only ever seen one Cirque show before which was a bit more acrobatic than this one. I feel LOVE was a bit more dancey. Is dancey a word? Whatever, well that’s what it was! There were still the wires and the rope climbing and the skills that must take incredible amounts of strength like in Here Comes the Sun.

(yes, the are sitting cross legged and still managing to hold on to the rope)

I can’t even imagine the planning that went into creating a show like this. It was so aesthetically beautiful and flowed perfectly with the music, costumes, make up and the sets. The audience participation was very cool and surprising.

When it comes down to it, the whole show was amazing. I would see it again and again if I had the opportunity. As soon as I walked out I sent a text to William saying, when we go back to Vegas he has to see it and that I wanted to see it again. It was fun and full of energy. Even if I wasn’t a Beatles fan, I think I would have loved it.

If you ever find yourself in Las Vegas, definitely go see LOVE. I’m so happy I finally got to experience it. It was everything I expected plus so, so much more.

I’ve heard Love is more of a show with circus acts, rather than the other Cirque shows that are circus acts with a story. That’s probably why there wasn’t as much acrobatics. Regardless, i’m envious you went! I really need to make it down to Vegas to see those shows.

Oh, and sitting cross legged on a rope? It IS hard to do if you do it wrong; I had to do it in show as well.

AH, that’s amazing! I hope to see that one day. I know what you mean about sensory overload – during Zumanity, I wasn’t always sure what to look at! Can’t wait to see more Cirque shows, and hope that LOVE is one of them!

I’ve seen it. It’s brilliant. I actually liked the simplest numbers the most. Like “She’s Got a Way.” Mesmerizing.

This show alone has made me want to venture to Vegas for quite some time now. I love the LOVE album, and I’m such a huge Beatles fan, their lyrics are tattooed to me. I *need* to see this some time.

I think Love is amazing and that it is truly an experience–each time you see it, if you sat in a different seat, it’d be an entirely new show.

I’ve seen ‘O’ and another one when they came to Chicago, and I’m in love with their performances. You totally hit the nail on the head with sensory overload in a good way :) I cannot wait to see Love one of these days…

[...] Love is All there Is- This post wasn’t exactly monumental, but did everything to make me OOBER jealous (is that how you spell oober or is it uber?) Jamie at Oh How Lovely! Reviewed the Cirque de Soleil Show in VEGAS, Love. The one to Beatles music.I’ve wanted to see it for so long. I am such a CDS fan and what better music than the beatles, and what better place than vegas? Oh How Lovely! [...]

Oh man. I am so so so jealous.
I want to see that show more than anything else on the planet.

It was weird, just as I started reading this post, a song from LOVE started playing off my shuffle.

I’m so jealous! I was in Vegas last week and Love was on a break :( I was sooo sad cause that was the only show I really wanted to see. I ended up seeing Le Reve which is another cirque show and it was good too but I wish I could have seen Love. Maybe another time…
