have you ever seen

such a sad, pathetic looking pup?

(She doesn’t have laser eyes that burn through you in real life. Pinkie promise.)

My poor Edie had a rough day. She couldn’t walk straight from the wearing anesthesia. Was terrified I’d leave her again. Wouldn’t walk with the e-collar on. As soon as she came out from the examination room, the whole packed waiting room let out a collective “awww” and giggle and said how sad she looked.

Right now, she is sleeping at the foot of my bed wearing an old tshirt of mine that I have knotted in the back. She can’t lick her stitches with it on and now she will actually move from one spot instead of standing frozen like a deer in headlights.

I’ve been told to keep her calm for 10 days. Calm means no running, jumping, playing, etc. Do they not know that is all little Corgis are made of? It should be an interesting few weeks to say the least!

Thanks for the well wishes. This nervous mama appreciated it.

Hopefully she heals up soon and puppyness is back in full effect soon. We have playdates to schedule!

naww. puppy.

The dogs in my shelter never stay ‘calm’ after their surgeries either. Nor do the kittens for that matter. Its a very optimistic request from the vet people…

We usually say a few days of recovery, and they’re back to their normal selves… She’s probably feeling extra sore and sorry for herself because it’s recent and she’d still be feeling the anaesthetic. Puppy/Owner hugs and kisses help lots ;)

I’m glad she’s okay. Good thinking with the T-shirt!

Could you imagine how uncomfortable those things are? You would think they could come up with something better. Poor Edie. I hope she gets to feeling better soon!

Aww my dog had one of those when she had surgery on her ACL…we have a photo of our kitten crawling into the cone thing and sitting with her. It was adorable.

Aw!! Poor lady! I know that when we’ve had puppies spayed they haven’t wanted to move around a lot for about a week after, and then we just kept them penned in with baby gates in a smaller room. It’s sad stuff, but better than Edie going all Twilight and becoming a teenage mom. Good thing she has you!

Oh. My. Goodness. Poor little lovebug! I’m sure you just loved her right up!

Look at those sad little ears and sad little eyes.

I’m so glad she’s okay. She actually looks pretty cute in that little thing.

awww.. i am glad she’s all right! i have to get my kittens spaid (sp?) soon and I do not even wanna think about it. at all.

You know, my friends’ dog had the same surgery and the vet said they tell you that simply so she won’t rip the stitches. If she hops around with her energy, it won’t be the end of the world. If she goes on a hunting expedition in which she’s chasing down woodland creatures? There might be a problem. So I think she’s safe. Glad she’s alright!!

Poor thing! She looks so cute and so pathetic! Hope she feels better soon!

awww such a sad sad look…poor Edie! :( She still manages to look so cute though.

Heh yeah good luck keeping her “calm”, when my sheltie broke his leg we couldn’t even keep him calm, he would still run around on it! Silly dogs. All the running around though didn’t hurt him and I doubt it’ll hurt Edie! I hope she feels all better soon.

Aww poor pup!!!

Give her a treat for me, would ya?

[Reply]

I know she’s probably in a little pain, but she’s SO CUTE in her lampshade. Give her lots of hugs for me!

Oh, what a sad little puppy! Hope she feels better soon, and I’m sure you’re going to take such good care of her :)

Oh yes! the conehead picture is required of any puppy post-surgery. I have some from both Brodie and Maisie. Heeh. Brodie had to have the extra long cone because of his big nose. But then he kept running it into things. It was pretty funny. Good luck keeping Edie still for a week! I know there were several times I was so scared that my dogs were going to rip their incisions open with their rough-housing but they were fine.

Aww puppy! I’m sure he’ll be back to his usually self soon!!

Good to hear Edie is doing well but post-ops always freak doggies out. Hopefully she won’t have to wear the satellite dish much longer, she’ll feel much better after that.

Awwwh poor girl! When Chester was fixed he liked to just stand and stare at the wall in a haze when he first came home because he was still doopey. He didn’t want me to leave him either that entire day so I carried him everywhere and very gently. I say hide all the toys to keep her calm. Ripped stitches I bet are a nightmare.

Awww! Poor little Edie! She’ll be up and feeling better in no time though.

Oh Edie, feel better soon! xoxo

I’m glad she’s okay- those plastic things are so sad on dogs.

The poor little puppy. At least the worst of it – the actual surgery – is over. Now just time to heal. Staying calm, however, might be tough… Good luck.

Awww poor little angel. I’m glad she’s home and everything went okay. I have a cupcake with her name on it.

[Reply]

Oh my god that is so cute and sad at the same time.

[Reply]

Aw, that is so preciously sad! I hope she gets to feeling better soon :)

I’m so glad that your puppy came out alive and well. The poor thing. I, too, have put off my puppy’s spaying because of my nervousness. The thought of her going under and being slice open kills me, but I know it’s for the better. She goes in next month.

Lucy Belle was so cute and pathetic after she got her surgery. Granted, she had it done right before I picked her up from the pound, so I didn’t really know her before then. But she was pathetic. And then horribly, horribly active.

You know how they’re not supposed to get their stitches wet? She launched herself through the shower curtain NUMEROUS times during that period. … It was interesting, to say the least.

I hope Edie is feeling a bit better now!
