Hi everyone! I’m Jessica and I blog at Everyday Adventures. I am your lovely guest blogger today while Jamie relaxes from a fun weekend in Florida (jealous!)
So please relax and enjoy the below guest post. And please tip your waitress.
Today I forgot my iPod at home and I nearly lost my shit. I frantically searching my purse and even dumped it out on my desk. How I managed to not notice I had this is beyond me since I basically wear it from the moment I leave the house until I leave work (minus meetings). But I forgot it and I felt like someone had cut off my arm and left it on my coffee table.
It appears as though I’m just used to always having certain things with me because when they’re gone, I totally notice. The iPod is one example but my beloved Macbook, Lulu, is another. Lulu has been having some performance issues lately but I’m dreading taking her in to get repaired because she would be gone for a day or two. A DAY OR TWO. WITHOUT my computer? I don’t know if I can handle that. Even though I’m in front of a computer all day, I love coming home to see Lulu and I don’t know what I’ll do if she’s gone.
My reliance on technology has only been worsened with the entrance of a work-issued Blackberry in my life. Yes, I love it for checking Chicago bus arrivals, but I’m definitely more dependent on it than I thought I would be. Ick.
This also is an issue when I go on vacation up to northern Wisconsin where the town JUST got Wifi in certain parts of town. I won’t lie, it’s a LONG week.
Now, I still enjoy a break from technology, but in the end, it’s good to go home
Full of Wifi, Blackberry and cell phone access and functioning laptops.
Am I the only one that finds themselves unable to live without certain pieces of technology? Even for an eight-hour workday?
Speaking of which, I need to go charge my iPod now for tomorrow!

i never used to understand the crackberry addiction/hype, but since i got one last month, I DO NOW.
my dependence on my BB is getting out of hand. i mean, major freakouts occur if i happen to be in one room and the BB is another room. THE HORROR.

ha ha, and that is why I’ve been holding out on getting a blackberry or iphone. I’m even considering ending the facebook feature on my regular LG phone.
But an iPod is highly necessary to the day, especially the commute, because MUSIC is highly necessary!! No need for a break from that…

My precious Zune died over a month ago and has yet to be repaired – I can understand your turmoil! 45 minutes on the Metro in the morning has never seemed so dismal, even in the turning of Spring!

I have resisted the iPhone and the Blackberry but I am obsessed but my “normal” cell – The EnV2… I sleep it with (it’s my alarm), I check it 1,000 times a day and it’s never far away from me…(even though I can feel its probable cancer rays seeping into my brain). I only use my ipod for working out and plane travel but I don’t want to do either with out it. (I listen to CDs or the radio on my drive to work)….Ahh….technology…truely taking over

I’m obsessed with the wifi feature on my iPod touch. When I’m somewhere and there isn’t WiFi? I get extremely annoyed. If only I had AT&T service where I live! I’d totally get an iphone.

I know this feeling all too well. I just dropped my laptop off for repair, poor thing has a virus on it, and I didn’t want to risk trying to fix it myself. The guys told me they SHOULD have it done in a few hours, but if it’s not ready by 5:30, then I can pick it up tomorrow. And I’m all “TOMORROW?! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO TIL THEN?! I CAN’T BE WITHOUT IT TIL TOMORROW!”
Our reliance on technology is awful, but I can’t imagine life without it! Louis CK did a funny bit about it on Conan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoGYx35ypus

Cell phone. Other than that nothing.
Wait, does that little hand held solitaire game count? ‘Cause I play that when I go to bed. I need it like I need air.

so I’m not alone! I have an iPod touch and am addicted to it. One week into owning it and I felt lost when it wasn’t near me. shoot. that sounds pathetic, sorta.
So you listen at work? does anyone else listen to music via headphones at work? I’m in a small office and am too chicken to do that.

If one analyzed the phone usage versus internet usage on my monthy cell phone bill, the internet usage would surpass the phone usage probably 100 to 1. Who knew the iPhone actually made calls? Not me!

I definitely understand. I just dropped my iPod on the sidewalk (a few times), and I think it might be a goner. I use it all the time.

My laptop doesn’t work if not plugged in now. Yet I just pretend nothing is wrong, because, dammit, I’m scared to let it go.
