Vegas!

I’ve been majorly slacking. Normally, I have posts written for all, well most, of my blogs and scheduled to go. I believe this is what we call Vegas brain. I have a serious case of it.

Returning to the real world is just not as fun as slot machines, walking the strip, plotting ways to break into shops in the Forums, planning out exactly how you are going to worm your way through Mariah Carey’s entourage and hang out with that crazy bitch.

Seriously, Chicago has nothing on Las Vegas!

After a ridiculous flight in sitting in front of three freshly 21 year olds, I wanted to kill myself. No, really, I wanted to bust out the window next to me and squeeze my big ass out of it in flight because they were so amazingly annoying that I didn’t even this this kind of annoying existed. First, I had to listen to them plot out how they were going to bring down the casino a la 21 and practice counting cards. Then I had to listen to this kid sing the same part of Paper Planes over and over very loudly. After which, dealt with him kicking my seat repeatedly. The lone girl in the group would moan because they were being annoying but she was just as annoying with her moaning. Throw in a chorus of GO, DJ! THAT’S MY DJ! and some fake vomiting sounds, I was about ready to jump over the back of my seat and murder them.

We stayed at Planet Hollywood this time which was a great choice. Our room was Macaulay Culking themed. Of course, one would expect Home Alone but it was Getting Even With Dad, complete with a tshirt little he wore during filming. There is nothing like waking up to Macaulay as soon as you open your eyes. Okay, it was kind of creepy. I loved our hotel, Planet Dailies has great food and a ginormous ice cream sundae that we unfortunately didn’t have a chance to get this time, the mall was right next to us which was quite convenient. Our first walk through the casino and William spots Vanilla Ice playing craps. I was very tempted to go up and ask him for a photo but he was surrounded by tons of dudes and I wasn’t about to be the one female all up in that.

making our way to the Fashion Show mall near the Wynn and Treasure Island

That night we decide to hit up Tao in the Venetian. This place was kind of ridiculous. If you do clubs and happen to be in Las Vegas, make this your first stop. I will recommend not buying a new pair of heels hours before you go because they will murder your feet and you will spend the whole night withering in pain but still trying to enjoy yourself. That place is definitely on my list of places to go back to with proper footwear. This totally wouldn’t had happened if I had my adorable peep toe shoes that mysteriously disappeared :(

If you are a buffet person, check out the Wynn. They had everything you could possibly imagine. The chicken noodle soup was so so soooo good. The had a make your own pasta bar. Seafood, sushi, Italian, Mexican, fried chicken, bacon cut from the slab, everything. The dessert bar was crazy! Definitely go there.

Next time I go to Las Vegas, I want to stay in the Palms. We went their one night to check out Moon, Ghostbar and the Playboy club. Moon was shut down for an event which sucked but we made our way into Playboy. The dj played good music, the vibe was cool. I really liked it. We ended up practically shutting the place down so we didn’t get a chance to go to Ghostbar.

My favorite casino hands down was Paris. I loved the inside of it! Mon Ami Gabi is on my list of places to go to next time.

I took this photo sitting on the steps outside of our hotel

We went to Caesar’s Palace because I wanted to go look at the Forum shops. I’m pretty sure I could live in there. I may or may not have been pressed up against the glass of Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Fendi looking longingly at beautiful things. I also found out that night that Mariah Carey would be hosting the Bank at the Bellagio. I was this close to trying to talk boyfriend into going because I LOVE Mariah. Daydream was the first cd I ever owned and it’s been a love affair since even when she was passing out popsicles in a big tshirt on TRL.

In the Venetian, we went on a gondola and were serenaded by our gondolier. We were also stared at and had our photos taken by many a tourist which was kind of creepy.  We caught the fountains at the Bellagio many times since it was right across the street from our hotel. My favorite time was when it went along with Sinatra.

I didn’t take a lot of pictures because I was just enjoying myself and forgot about the camera but there are a couple more over at my flickr.

All I know is, I’m ready to go back.

Now.

My family lives in Las Vegas so I am there a lot
(actually I think we were there at the same time) and Mon Ami Gabi is amazing, you have to go. I have been there about three times and my favorite was sitting out on the deck and we watched the bellagio fountains the entire time, okay and the food is to die for-seriously. Sounds like you had a blast although I agree with you a Maculay Culkin themed room would creep me out.

Sounds like so much fun! I’ve never been to Vegas, and probably won’t ever go (at least not with Ted who is morally opposed to Vegas, no idea why). It’s nice to live vicariously though! :)

Aw, I like the pic of you! You look pretty. Love your hair.

I have never been to Vegas, but I think I may have to set some money aside to go just after Christmas.

And thanks to you, I totally feel like I’ve got some insight now. :) I’ll make sure to bring some comfy shoes, too.

I went to Rain on my 21st birthday and I had the best. time. ever. No subsequent trip to Vegas has ever compared.

I would love to go to Vegas. There is nothing in NZ that even compares. Not even slightly.
Sounds like an awesome holiday!!

So fun! My friends and I are thinking about going to Vegas for spring break this year. I will definitely have to try all those places you mentioned. It sounds like you had a great time!

I love love love Vegas. When we went in April we stayed at the MGM. It was perfect, never had to leave the place….except for when I went to make a Build A Bear for Diana slightly hung over.

Priceless

Man, the clubs out there are ridiculous. Did you ever go to Rain? That place was freaking awesome.

No gambling huh?

[Reply]

God that sounds like a lot of fun and damn you look fierce in the picture. Meow! I miss you too, we do need to get together soon.

If I don’t go completely broke in the next few months, I’m so celebrating my 25th birthday in Vegas. You’re coming. No muss, no fuss.

Sounds awesome – including the Vanilla Ice part – very surreal, and very Vegas.

OMG I’ve never been to Vegas but I just feel like I went vicariously through your post. It sounds like an amazing trip! But I bet Edie is glad to have you home :)

[Reply]

you brought back memories!

I miss it! I love that photo of you standing on one of the street cross-over thingers. I looked up the strip and was like “DUDE.. I walked that!” Awesome. :)

Sorry about the shitty flight… but I’m glad you enjoyed yourself.

[Reply]

I hope you mooned at least one of those tourists.

Woo Vegas!

The Palms is definitely fun to stay at – it’s the only place I stayed at in my only trip ever to Vegas (ha), so it’s all I know there! BUT! It does have fun things to do, and the venue in it usually has stellar rock shows if you book it right. Looks like you had tons of fun! GEAH!

[Reply]

sounds like a fabulous vegas trip! you did way more in one trip than i’ve done in about three, haha. and i looove paris too. it’s such a fun hotel. and the crepes….yummmm.

[Reply]

Aww jealous!! I think we’re going for my sister’s bachelorette next spring and that makes me excited!!

But I really wish you took some pics of your hotel room! I cannot even imagine :)

E keeps telling me we should take a trip to Vegas soon since neither of us have ever been. I am desperate to go to the Playboy Club at the Palms, but we are both a little freaked that we’ll just go and gamble the whole time and lose all our money. Now I have some ideas to tell him about what else we could do… gondola!

Or shopping. And lose money that way.

[Reply]

Fun! Confession: I have only been to Vegas once, and I was 14 at the time. I need to go back pronto since it’s been 10 years, and it appears there have been a lot of changes. That and the fact that I can get into casinos now. ;)

It sounds like y’all had a fantastic time! While the Macaulay sounds a little creepy, I bet it was cool being surrounded by the memorabilia. And the gondola? So much fun! My friends and I wanted to do that when we were in Venice, but it was WAY too expensive for our end-of-the-trip budgets.
