I thought I lost my wallet.
I got a few lovely emails from bloggy friends. You guys are amazing.
I did 5 million math problems.
I still don’t really get the difference between rational and irrational numbers. I kind of don’t care anymore.
I got an awesome news by email! I don’t think I’m allowed to tell yet, but I will soon enough.
I sat through the most boring Psych class ever.
I found my wallet.
I will be in class for 6 1/2 hours later.
I will miss Project Runway and not be able to catch a rerun until this weekend.
I will get to meet my boyfriend for a late bite to eat once I get out of class.
Your turn. “Today I…”

Today I woke up early and still got to work an hour late.
I ate two pieces of cake from the assortment provided by my job… the all-staff meeting ran for an hour & 15 minutes. That was enough of a reason for me.
I’ve hardly done any work. At all. Again.
Gah.

A rational number can be expressed as a fraction
like 3.33333333 is just 10/3. (The fraction must be a ratio between two INTEGERS)
Irrational, like pi or e or the square root of 2, just continues on in decimals. Any REAL number that is not rational is irrational.
Today I hope I cleared things up regarding rational and irrational numbers.
(You can spread good news on the 18th)

Today I attended class and realised that I really, super need to drop some classes if I ever want to sleep.
Today I took my first yoga class ever and I’m so excited!
Everyday, not just today, rational numbers are ones that end (eg 1/4 = .25) or repeat (eg. 1/3 = .3333). They can be expressed as fractions.
Irrationals do not end or repeat. They cannot be expressed as fractions. (eg. .013492789etc.)
Hope that helps – or at least doesn’t confuse you more!

Was late for work.
Questioned why I even went to work when I dislike it so much.
Read lots of wonderful blogs (like yours!) and felt so much better.
And tried to remind myself that there is always tomorrow.
(Was that too corny? Oh man, maybe it was.)

Today I…
- woke up late
- secretly took a shower in my roommate’s bathroom
- stood in line at the post office w/ 50 something rich people (all the while thinking of ways to kill myself)
- spent the last of my gift cards for coffee ($.03 left to be exact)
- spent a majority of my “free time” after work on etsy.com
- sold art (as i do every week-day)
- sent out my mom’s surprise 50th birthday party invitations (which I made)
- ignored a majority of my to-do list
- looked at apartments/townhouses/houses in various cities I’m thinking about moving.

Today I…
…Ate a piece of pizza as big as my head.
…Got annoyed with my boss.
…Heard paparazzi shouts outside of my window from the Cloverfield premiere.
…Realized the only place I will ever see the celebs at the premiere is from the paparazzi shots, even though they are no more than 50 yards outside my window.
…Realized things like that are why L.A. sucks.
…Thought about moving to Nashville in March and got happy again.

So, I’m a little late to this game, but here’s an analogy to help you understand rational and irrational numbers.
Imagine a pie (of any flavor).
Someone asks you, “How much of that pie is left?” And you say, “Well, there are 3 out of 9 pieces left. So, there’s about 33% of that pie left.” This is a rational number. It’s something you can pin down and know what it’s going to do. (Either be an ending decimal or a regularly repeating decimal)
If they then say “Well, I see how many pieces are left, but what about all the crumbs and pieces of crust that got stuck to the sides?” Instead of saying “That’s stupid,” you might want to say, “Well, there are a more than 3 pieces left of 9, but I’m not sure how much.” While mathematically you can find that exact number, it’s not going to be very pretty. You won’t be able to make it into a faction, and it’s decimal will be all over the place, never repeating or ending. You have no idea what it’s going to do, so it’s irrational.

Today I… am still sick. Boo!
