books, books and more books

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I went to Old Navy to get him another warmer coat because, well you have to have variety, duh, and Old Navy was having 40% off on all outerwear sale. I was soooo close to buy a super cute grey wool coat. That would have been ridiculous because I have a perfectly good Triple 5 Soul parka I bought last year and a brand new Reaction wool coat that is gorgeous. Do I really neeeed a new grey wool coat? No. Did I want it? Yes.

Oh, shopping, you will be the end of me.

Thank you for all the book suggestions yesterday! You guys are great! In return, I want to share some of my favorite books with you.

Geek Love – Katharine Dunn (I will recommend this book forever and ever)

Invisible Monsters – Chuck Palahniuk (some people love him, some hate him. I love this book)

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time – Mark Haddon

Me Talk Pretty One Day – David Sedaris

The Nanny Diaries – Emma Mclaughlin and Nicola Kraus (I love the book, hated the movie!)

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius – Dave Eggers

The Handmaid’s Tale – Margaret Atwood

The Secret Life of Bees – Sue Monk Kidd

Those are just some of my recommendations I throw out when people ask.

Agree? Disagree? Love them? Hate them?

ooh I’m going to check some of these out for my trip! I bought The Curious Incident… but never got into it. I should give it another try, it’s gotten so many good reviews.

Oh, I love The Handmaid’s Tale! I’m just starting another novel of Atwood’s, but I don’t think it can possibly measure up. And now I have to go look at all the book recs…

Yay for books!
The Handmaid’s Tale is wonderful. Loved it.
I read The Nanny Diaries in one sitting at B&N, I’m glad you saw the movie, I was debating whether it’d be worth it.

I will have to agree with The Handmaid’s Tale. I’ll also suggest Mad Girls in Love and if you haven’t read Pride and Prejudice..it really is a must.

I adore Margaret Atwood. I don’t care if it utterly cliche as a Canadian university student.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime was brilliant, too, for its ability to convey what so many people have missed.

Tiff – Definitely try it again. Also, Geek Love would be a great read for the plane!

Lisa – No problem! There are some really good ones in there, hopefully you find something you like.

Sunny – Handmaids Tale is the only Atwood book I’ve read so let me know how you like the you are currently reading!

Shannon – the movie was way different. I knew it wouldn’t be so great but I have a little girl crush on Scarlett. It’s definitely a good, quick read!

Spunk – I have read Pride and Prejudice and love it. I definitely need to look into Mad Girls in Love though. Thanks!

Princess Pointful – I’m really interested in reading more of Margaret Atwood’s work. I need to get on over to Borders!

Oooh, I loved Me Talk Pretty One Day and The Secret Life of Bees too! Also, I’m impressed that you had the willpower to not take advantage of 40% off outerwear at Old Navy. Actually, I’m sorry you shared that with us because now I might have to go buy a new coat :)

How about I ordered the red and grey plaid coat (did I need it? Noooo. But I loved it) and then today bought the plaid vest. You can’t turn down the 40% off sale. You just can’t. Actually, maybe you should?? Because I am broke. On the bright side, I’m well dressed!

I loved A Heartbreaking Work, but only the first half. Is that weird? The second part dragged on forever.

I feel you…I swear, every time I see a cute black dress, I have an unbelievable urge to buy it. I have like twenty, and need to stop. It’s a problem.

I LOVE David Sedaris and totally heart Me Talk Pretty One Day especially.

Um, and I totally went to the 40% off sale and bought a gray wool coat. This one- http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?cid=5448&pid=529382

I love it!
