I am a big fan of sleep. I take naps when I can. I sleep late when possible. I need to sleep well to function, I’m definitely not a person who can sleep for 3 hours and be ready to go. I need my 8 hours, thanks. Especially, working 12 hour days chasing after a 2 year old and soothing a screaming infant. Looooong days. Must…have…sleep.

So why is it that on my day off, when I have nothing important to do but watch Grey’s Anatomy later today (YES. THAT IS IMPORTANT. VERY IMPORTANT, PEOPLE), I wake up at 8:00 AM. WHY?! On my one day off, my one day to enjoy sleeping late, but no, my body obviously will not let me have that. Not cool, man.

Anyway, schedules. I wrote earlier this week briefly that I had a meeting with a counselor for school. Come spring semester, I’m transferring schools. Recently I decided to change my major from education to nursing, no one probably believes me though because I use to change my major like, um…every 3 seconds. Whatever, that is besides the point. Point being, I have to knock out a bunch of science classes before I can start applying to nursing programs. I walked out of my meeting completely overwhelmed. Overwhelmed but ready. I am going to have my ass kicked for the next 3 1/2 years!

Next semester, I’m taking 3 classes, I want to say it’s 13 credit hours. ONE class alone is 6 credit hours. 8 weeks, 3 days a week, 6 hours and 20 minutes each day….for one class. I know, right? I’m also taking a Psych and a Math, which I should have placed out of but considering at 23, I have the math skills of a 5th grader. I most definitely didn’t place out of Math. So Monday and Wednesday I will be at school from 8:10AM-9:50PM and on Thursday from 3:30 to 9:50. Thank goodness the Nurse Assistant class is only 8 weeks, so after those 2 months, my Mondays and Wednesdays will lighten up immensely and I won’t even have to be there on Thursdays. Still, longest school day everrr.

Then until I enter nursing school:

Summer 08 – Bio and another Psych

Fall 08 – Bio, Chem, Nursing 101 and Soc

Spring 09 – Bio, Bio, maybe another Chem

I guess I should enjoy any sleep I can get now, since I sure as hell won’t be sleeping then.

Especially that of the Tila kind.

I watch my fair share of bad television. I am an avid watcher of The Hills, sometimes the Real World (not this season though. I flinch if I come across it flipping channels, yes, it’s that bad) and even the dreadful Laguna Beach. Funny how these are all MTV shows, but anyway, the point of this all is MTV has gone too far.

MTV has sunk to a new low. We all know MTV hasn’t played music in a very, very long time, even Justin Timberlake said so at the VMAs. The cheesy, scripted dating shows were getting out of control as well. But then they go and make A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse.

Who is this broad? A “model, singer and entertainer”. What is she best known for? Being the most popular person on Myspace. So they give this girl a show?!

Seriously, MTV, get someone attractive next time if you must make a new horrible show, not some busted looking Myspace random. Having 4 million friends, does not make you interesting, let alone deserving of your own show.

My music tastes ranges all across the board; from hipster dance club music, to being a pretentious indie snob but boy, I sure do love me some pop music. You put my iTunes on shuffle and who knows what will pop up.

I’ve been waiting for this day for awhile. I’m not even ashamed to admit it. I love Britney Spears, I was so hyped for this album once I heard “Gimme More”. VH1 featured Blackout on the Leak so fans could listen to it a whole week early.

I really like the album. Honestly, I was hoping for a little more but I can’t complain. I still love it. I think my favorite track is “Break the Ice” and honestly, as much as I love “Gimme More”, this might made a better single to lead off with.

Britney speaks out about the media in “Piece of Me”, seriously the song couldn’t describe the girl’s life better: “I’m Mrs. ‘Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,’ I’m Mrs. ‘Oh my God, that Britney’s shameless,”. She knows exactly what people are saying about her and believes she will have the last laugh with the line, “Now are you sure you want a piece of me?”. Brit is obviously not as oblivious as people think.

“Radar” is going to be one of those catchy as hell songs you will not be able to get out of your head whether you like it or not. “Get Naked (I Got A Plan)”, produced by Danjahandz, along “Hot As Ice”   were just meant to be dance songs and that’s just what they are, as is most of the album.

The closing track “Why Should I Be Sad” is basically self explanatory. It was produced by Pharell and I love him just as much as the next person but I was hoping for a seriously hot song from him, a la Boys, that was written and produced by the Neptunes. Ultimately, in my eyes, a major let down.

Overall, it was good. It could have been better but consider all that’s been going on in Britney’s life, I am impressed. It definitely will be in rotation on my iTunes. I do hate the album cover though, it’s incredibly cheesy looking. I seen some other pictures that were supposedly going to be the cover and a few were a lot better than what we got!

All in all, I say, go Britney. I’m loving it. All she needs is the straighten out the mess she’s become, get herself a stylist because good Lord, the girl can’t dress herself,  get rid of those extensions (embrace the short hair, girl!) and she will be well on her way to a full on comeback.

I tend to pronounce it like NABLAAMO! You know like the word KABLAAMO! I think it makes it more fun.

Annnnnnyway, National Blog Posting Month. Are you down? Basically, it’s about posting every day in November until you want to throw your blog out the window. I think it will be fun. You can find new blogs to read, get your blog out there more and just push the limits of blog writing to where they have never been before.

Yes. Your eyes are not mistaken. Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore has been outed by none other than Jo herself at a reading at Carnegie Hall. Rowling revealed that she always thought of Dumbledore as gay.

The question was: Did Dumbledore, who believed in the prevailing power of love, ever fall in love himself?

JKR: My truthful answer to you… I always thought of Dumbledore as gay. [ovation.] … Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was. To an extent, do we say it excused Dumbledore a little more because falling in love can blind us to an extent? But, he met someone as brilliant as he was, and rather like Bellatrix he was very drawn to this brilliant person, and horribly, terribly let down by him. Yeah, that’s how i always saw Dumbledore. In fact, recently I was in a script read through for the sixth film, and they had Dumbledore saying a line to Harry early in the script saying I knew a girl once, whose hair… [laughter]. I had to write a little note in the margin and slide it along to the scriptwriter, “Dumbledore’s gay!” [laughter] “If I’d known it would make you so happy, I would have announced it years ago!”

The comments are already reeling about this new tidbit of info. If people are going to starting hating on this fact now, when they loved Dumbledore all this time, well that’s absolutely ridiculous. He is a great character with a lot of depth and secrets, and this was just one of the many. I can’t believe people are getting so worked up about it. I personally love it. I always thought Dumbledore was quite fabulous!

Last year around Christmas time, I was putting together a box of loveliness for a friend who lives on the east coast. I was scouring the internet for cute, fun things I would want myself to give this person. I can’t even remember where I found Pink Loves Brown but I’m glad I did. I have yet to buy some items for myself but I plan on it eventually, probably some book plates for my ever growing library. Pink Loves Brown is also Chicago girl!

So today I was thinking about Halloween and how I maybe, possibly, could be, but probably won’t, dress up this year. First thing that came to mind, Harry Potter. No, not be The Boy Who Lived, but a Harry Potter themed costume. Since I am oh so intelligent, I like to think I would be Ravenclaw. I go about my business and type “Ravenclaw costume” or something of that sort into trusty Google and see what comes up. I’m looking and looking and finally come across this……

Gryffindor is obviously the slutty house since this comes in no other colors but that’s besides the point. Is Harry Potter not even safe from Halloween whorey-ness?

Walking around in lingerie that is black and yellow, does not make you a bumblebee. Adding wings to your Victoria Secret skivvys does not make you Gisele, or even an angel. A sexy border control officer? A hot taxi driver? Please spare everyone.

Seriously.

I have a shopping problem. I’m not afraid to admit it. Once I get going it’s kind of hard to stop me, especially shopping of the internet variety. There are so many good deals out there! Promo codes, free shipping and my new favorite…wholesale sites.

My wardrobe is pretty basic, well clothing-wise at least, let’s not get started on bags and shoes… I’m a jeans and tee shirt kind of girl. Throw in some tanks for layering, a cardigan, a pair of flats and I’m ready to go. I find American Apparel is the best for basics. It’s good quality stuff (let’s just forget about how skeezy their CEO guy is, for a sec) and I don’t mind paying for quality, but sometimes $17 a pop for a tee can hurt your cute little pocketbook.

In comes my newest internet find: Trendy Blanks.

An American Apparel wholesale site. They don’t have EVERYTHING offered in stores but they do have a nice selection.

I just bought 6 tees, 3 scarves, 6 tanks, 1 pair of leggings (for under jeans in winter or dresses with boots. Fuck that leggings as pants noise, I am NOT down with that) and 2 tunics. I paid $104 for all of that. If I had bought that from AA, it would have been around $350. Craziness.

Even with this site, I know I will still frequent the American Apparel store. They have tons of cute stuff. Salt and Pepper hoodie and Interlock Wrap Dress, I’m looking at you next.

But seriously? AA on the cheap, man. Time to bust out your Visa.

I’m currently loving this song. It’s kind of my favorite in the whole world at the moment. Mark Ronson could probably cover anything and make it amazing. He’s done a Smith’s cover and even Toxic by everyone’s favorite trainwreck, Britney Spears.
